Monday, March 26, 2012 11:30:44 AM GRadde, I don't think the Chinese have had the oppotunity to be horrible to the Japanese in recent history. Draculya, Yes, there have been some pretty horrible things done in China, the Cultural Revolution was grotesque, but Japanese attrocities were of a different order. Bad things happen in war but in WWII Germany and Japan took brutality towards non-combatants to a new level. Gerry, The movie is generally regarded as being very close to the facts. Entertainment? I dunno but it seems the director was not happy about letting by-gones be by-gones in the name of diplomacy. |

Monday, March 26, 2012 6:54:07 AM I have a vague feeling that the Japs were horrible to the Chinese AND vice versa, but at different times. |

Sunday, March 25, 2012 12:39:12 PM It's a Chinese propaganda movie. But then the Japanese were complete SOBs during the war. You also bear in mind that the Chinese have been as bad before and since the war.

LordJim - in what context would it not be messed up? If it's an historically accurate account, like some of the holocust movies. But if that stuff is just for visual entertainment from the warped imagination of the writer/director then yes it's messed up. |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 10:23:50 PM ... cont. After 2 hours of the horrible thing I realized the movie was 250 minutes long! But it was 2 in the morning already so I kept watching, then I went to Wikipedia to learn more about “unit 731” and it led me to realize that the movie I just watched for 4.5 hours was a complete waste and I should watch “Men Behind the sun” to really understand what happened at Unit 731. It was 5AM so I called it a night. Today I open IAB and here it is “A MAN BEHIND THE SUN” Mind properly blown |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 10:23:25 PM Ok I hope someone actually reads this post cus I think its pretty weird. So I visit at IAB every day and yesterday I saw a picture of a tattoo and wanted to know more about it so I reversed looked it up with Google images which sent me to a tumbler blog that led me to another tumbler blog (I got side tracked from the tattoo to boobs gifs) which led me to a sick video on efudget.com (very NSFW) I watched some 10 very disturbing and discussing videos and then I saw a black and white torture scene from a movie called “philosophy of a knife” so it led me to IMDB which said: "Philosophy of a Knife" is truly one of the most violent, brutal and harrowing movies ever made” So I it led me to dailymotion to watch it. Cont... |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 6:57:47 PM I had read that the grandson of a 731 member worked for nintendo and used some of his grandfathers audio torture experiments in the original pokemon games and it was causing kids to go into seizures. |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 1:30:17 PM lol Gerry. Some of the torture scenes were several minutes long. How much more context do you need around the torture? |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 12:58:47 PM By the way, there was a russian adaptation of the whole 731 story, including original footage from the Japanese themselves. |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 12:56:34 PM Ah yes, the infamous unit 731 that performed inhumane experiments on thousands of civilians and prisoners of war. Nothing short of torture, that would make Mengele puke. The funny part, Russians executed the members of 731. The Americans gave them freedom (and in some cases even money and power) in exchange for all the data collected. That includes inhumane experiments on American POWs. Did you know, that they even hired some of them to aid them with their own research? Or that some of the 731 remnant became big animals in the Japanese post war pharmaceutical industries? Makes me puke a little every time I remember. |

Saturday, March 24, 2012 12:50:28 PM Gerry, In what context would that not have been messed up? It only takes a moment to check out the context. It happened and mostly the bad guys got away with it. |
