Wednesday, March 21, 2012 7:06:16 PM Having said that, I think they could have done with adding more memory. It's not the fastest memory in the world, so it's very cheap. 1GB would have been comfortably enough to run a normal Linux distro. Ahah, some looking about answers that question. It's a very specific packaging of memory (package on package, 168 ball grid array, LPDDR2) to fit the size and power usage requirements. The price rises very sharply for 512MB and I couldn't even find one above that. |

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 6:51:06 PM Wtf?? That is so cheap! How is it so cheap??? They are making no profit at all. They're a registered charity, selling the product at cost. They've also kept it to the essentials only. Hence the lack of any casing, the lack of a clock, the small amount of memory (256MB), etc. |

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 10:22:04 AM That is so friggin cool. I whole hearted support this. I love the fact that they leave that one port open IO pins. They leave room for you to customize and and control how powerful your little pi can be. Brilliant. Bravo good sirs, bravo. |

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 5:46:33 PM It was like, 'ho-hum' until he said how inexpensive they'll be! They've already gone on sale. £21.60, fixed global price. 33.98 Canadian dollars right now, apparently. They sold out in minutes though, and the retailers websites were so overloaded that it was almost like a denial of service attack. 1-2W while serving 1080p...that's impressive. |

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 11:38:32 AM I've had one on preorder for ages (since I found it looking for an Elite port for tablets). It's a project maker's dream. It will also bring low cost computing deep into the third world. |

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 11:07:25 AM It was like, 'ho-hum' until he said how inexpensive they'll be! I figured they'd cost more than that. Being so cheap means people may actually buy/use them. Cool! |

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 10:35:14 AM Apparently TPB is planning to use these as a Low Orbit Server Stations (LOSS), or basically flying servers to host all the files. I thought they were joking at first, until I saw just how small and cheap these things really are. |
