It's the not an issue of getting hurt, it's that only one of the three knows what he's doing. Most filmmakers will let there actors practice till they have the routine tight, I don't think Lucas works that way. |

It's all choreographed with real sticks and poles. They don't want to hurt the actors should the timing go wrong.
So Yes, it's obviously faked, No Duh ! |
