This is "real" but only in the sense that it requires extensive HDR to arrive at the image. It's basically several images at different exposure levels merged into one. |

Yeah that image has to be a composite. There is no way to see the ocean floor in visible light from space and the chances of capturing a cloudless day of this scope and at this specific time are astronomically slim.
Incidentally, this line is called the Solar Terminator. Which just sounds bad ass.
