Wednesday, December 08, 2004 11:12:00 PM Rory was on the news here a bit ago and he said they have to undergo intensive medical exams every other day to make sure they are staying hydrated and not losing too much weight. But I think them making sure you don't die isn't really scripting the show - everyone knows they aren't really going to starve to death, it's just fun to see them suffer. |

Wednesday, December 08, 2004 8:49:41 PM hate to tell you- but survivor isn't even close to real...well...technically. while i'm not sure if they have lines or scenes to go over, there is a great deal of 'lagging' to the truth. first of all, the elements have very little control on the show. if you get hurt on survivor, they're gonna get you some medical help. if a hurricane is on its way, they're going to get you off the island or wahtever. the crew constructs little huts or whatever for shelter. anti-venoms are available to any poisonous animals. finally, the fact that they have a camera and technical crew that aren't going to be living off of snake eyeballs and giraffe testicles (rather real food) should certify that chances of starving are slim.they may be giving away a million dollars- but they are taking in much more. |

Wednesday, December 08, 2004 1:06:53 PM Actually, I didn't read it on the internet, I saw it on the Reality of Reality show I mentioned earlier, and on the Apprentice E! True Hollywood Story. This was straight out of the contestants' mouths, not from some guy who wrote a book. I wasn't even aware there was stuff online, where is that at?They probably had Wes and Maria leave together as an exception since that was a weird time - I doubt they actually filmed everyone leaving in pairs too. |

Wednesday, December 08, 2004 12:19:32 AM You read the thing about The Apprentice elevator not being real and all that on the internet right? Guess what?ITS NOT TRUE It was written by a guy trying to knock the show to reduce ratings. Fake cabs? NOT TRUE. What is wrong with you? You believe everything you read? Idiot. Remember the episode where Wes and the lady leave together? IF THEY HAD FILMED THAT BEFORE IT HAPPENED IT WOULD MEAN THAT THE ENTIRE SHOW IS FAKE AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING. Don't be such a gullible idiot. |

Wednesday, December 08, 2004 12:11:08 AM 'The Apprentice is a very real competition'?! I had to snort Diet Dr. Pepper out of my nose when I read that post. That's probably the most fake one aside from Simple Life. The whole thing is fake: the boardroom, the elevators they take, even the scenes of them leaving in cabs are rehearsed and done before the show is even filmed. It's always the same two cabs. He doesn't even go with who is most qualified, he makes decisions based on ratings. The job they get is fluff, it's basically a title. I can bet that Bill Rancic doesn't even make 80% of the decisions for that new building. He probably has staff 'under' him that run the whole thing. |

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 6:46:43 PM Ok, everyone relax. The shows they mentioned are pure garbage...and if you were surprised to hear that the Simple Life is partially scripted then you should be taken away in a straight jacket and have your "brain" studied by scientists. There are 2 fantastic reality shows, neither of which is fake. The Apprentice is a very real competition for an extremely well paying job. I happen to know Troy (remember him from the first season?) and believe me, he was not given any lines or told how to behave. It is the real deal Holyfield, so just sit back and enjoy it. Second one is Survivor. A million dollars is on the line...so there's no way that people are doing what they are told by writers. Sure, a scene may be re-shot but the entire basis of the show is 100% real...and according to testimonies by former players the amount of "re-shot" scenes is very low. Think about it...these are not professional actors. How could they be so convincing if the scenes weren't |

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 10:33:11 AM It would be reality TV if the camera's were hidden, but they're not, so how could it be reality if these people know they're on TV, and obviously act differently because of it? |

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 12:33:03 AM it's not surprising, i mean i suspected it this whole time...but it another way quite surprising...i mean, actually looking at a preplanned script...that is so low of them. but not that my opinion matters, if they get money then they're happy. |

Tuesday, December 07, 2004 12:11:51 AM I watch some "reality" shows, but I've never been deluded enough to believe they weren't at least partially scripted. Sometimes its really obvious... especially with The Simple Life. |

Monday, December 06, 2004 11:47:08 PM There's a documentary series on Bravo called the 'Reality of Reality' that talks about this kind of stuff - it's very interesting, but I guess not all that surprising. They re-shoot 'scenes' if the cameras didn't catch everything, and are sometimes prompted with lines. I think anyone who watches reality shows should always take it with a grain of salt, and know everything Hollywood produces is fake, even the 'real' stuff! |
