Sunday, March 11, 2012 3:29:15 AM I haven't been to a theater in 20 years. Not fond of the gouging . . . the noise or other rude patrons. But somebody must like it because y'all keep going back for more! |

Sunday, March 11, 2012 3:17:24 AM One thing you can do, if you insist on paying to see a movie, keep your old popcorn bag and drink cups. Wash the drink cups, wipe the bag out and fold it neatly, put them in a backpack or the wife's purse. Most places offer free refills and if it's a busy night they clerks won't notice when you ask for your 'free refills'. Tip: Nest the cups in the bag and be careful not to crush them. Yes, it's cheating, but so are they by forcing you to pay 5 times what is reasonable. |

Sunday, March 11, 2012 1:19:09 AM CrakrJack, you don't even have to wait that long. You can usually get camrips of prescreening days before a movie is even released. Not that I would know anything about that... |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 8:01:23 PM I quit going to the movie theaters. Just be patient and wait a few months, you'll be able to get them off the internet for free. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 5:07:15 PM @Gerry drafthouse.com gets my money every time. Way better than a traditional theater. So glad I have options. Also, they have a comic shop out front. And they show free games and The Walking Dead tomorrow night. So excited! Going to see Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes there on Monday. Regular movie theaters can suck it! |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 5:04:05 PM Gerry It is not a monopoly. They are not the only supplier of a product. They have every right to sell their product for whatever they want. You are free to not buy it. Mcdonalds could charge $50 for a burger if they wanted because you can get burgers other places. The legal issue to me is that they prohibit you bringing your own food in, but restaurants and other establishments don't let you bring in outside food. I don't know. It sucks balls and I hate it, but I don't know how to justify fighting it. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 5:00:35 PM You don't have to buy it so they can charge what they want. Eat before you go to the theater and you won't need to eat at the movies. I installed a projector and 100" screen in my living room to watch movies. More because people are annoying at the theater than the price of snacks. |

@Kaagan - yes you can. Unfair trade practises, monopolies, price gouging, etc. In San Diego which has the highest gas prices in the nation, the County was considering regulating all gas stations, suddenly the price of gas went down and nothing ever came of it.... I wonder..... |

Usually I am all for free enterprise and free capitalism, but an arguement could be made that theaters are Price Gouging. They don't allow you to bring your own food thereby creating a monopoly. I'm not saying I'm for or against the lawsuit, I'll let you guys bat it back and forth. I just thought someone ought to mention that. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 4:13:04 PM I worked at a major theater chain in the NW years ago and one day while I was making popcorn I noticed something green. A kernel had molded and the popped in the batch, I grabbed it an showed a manager - they laughed and did absolutely nothing. Later that day I heard customer we complaining saying the popcorn had a dirt taste to it. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 3:50:29 PM Stay at home, jerk off. The theaters make dick on the tickets, and those places cost millions to build and millions to maintain. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 3:45:32 PM It's not a thin line by any stretch of the imagination. The theater has the right to charge whatever they want. Pricing gouging laws only apply to circumstances where there is natural disaster or crises and companies jack up prices on necessities. Clearly not the case here. I hope the theater company countersues this guy. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 3:19:10 PM So, people have the right to CHEAP empty calories/junk food/snacks when they go to a movie theatre ?? This type of thinking is why obesity is an epidemic... |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 3:06:11 PM Boohoo? Nobody is forcing you to buy popcorn at the theater, I'm sorry. Sneak in some milk duds you bought at CVS like the rest of us and move on with your life. |

Saturday, March 10, 2012 2:33:19 PM The money for the ticket goes to the movie maker. The movie theater only makes profit on snacks, which is why they cost so much. Do your homework, and make it take more than 20 minutes. |
