Abortions declined sharply after Abstinence education started being taught in schools during the Reagan administration. So saying it doesn't work is a load of horsecrap

Definitely a case of cum hoc ergo propter hoc thus your conclusion, as you put it, is a load of horsecrap.

Abstinence-only is ideology over science.

"Abortions declined sharply after Abstinence education started being taught in schools during the Reagan administration. So saying it doesn't work is a load of horsecrap."

Once again you are only reading what you are thinking. I was talking about "abstinence only" programs not working. I am all for including abstinence education along with sex education, as I clearly stated.

"Too bad your stuck in your liberal mindset to not know these PP tactics are not appropriate."

I'm looking at both sides of the issue. It is you that is always stuck in your ideology. Abstinence only is a far right failure that doesn't work. Kids have sex. Having adults tell them not to makes them want to have it more.

And in areas with REAL sex education, rates of teen pregnancy are lower than in areas with abstinence-only education. So yeah, maybe it works compared to NO sex education, but compared to a real one? Not even close.

The fact of the matter is, you're wrong. This entire video is composed of lies. And you will never admit this, because you want to believe it's true. Go out and find a single substantiated example of anything in this video being true, and I will gladly admit to being wrong.

Also if you had bothered to read gary8162's experience with their deceptive practices you might get a hint of how true this video really is.

It amazes me the ignorance of people who believe that abstinence only works. How did that whole "Just Say No to Drugs" work out? If you tell a kid not to do something it makes them want to do it.

I'm not saying abstinence should not be taught because it should. Kids need to learn how to not be pressured into having sex. It is abstinence only that doesn't work. Kids also need to know how to use contraceptives for when they do end up having sex. Because pretty much everyone ends up having sex.

"Did you or did you not see the letter saying that these PP classes were MANDATORY ?

I'm guessing you didn't watch the video all the way through. But can you admit that you are wrong on this point ?"

This is a propaganda film. It is not something that anyone should trust. The fact that you do explains a lot about your comments and your whole political outlook.

This video just shows how out of control Planned Parenthood has become. They want to "educate" kids about safe sex but what they're really doing is showing kids all the perverse ways it can be done and the "toys" you can use as well. Does anyone remember when sex education in schools first started? It was more of an informative way the male/female bodies worked and what happens when an egg is fertilized, sort of like what you'd now see in a basic health class. Well that's not how it is now.

First of all, I'd like verify these claims. Secondly, as people have pointed out here PP requires permission slips before students can attend.

gary: That's nothing new, PP has been disguising it's propaganda as 'hygiene' and 'social studies' for a long time now. They're getting so bold now as to make it a mandatory part of Phys. Ed. with no parental permission asked for at all.

Anyway, 15 years ago my 6th grade daughter came home from school to announce she's taking a C.P.R. course at school. After a few days into this course, I'd asked her "So,did you learn how to save a life today?". She said "No". I said "Chest compressions, mouth to mouth?". She said "No. I learned how to put a condom on with my hand and mouth". That's when I found out C.P.R. stood for Creating Positive Relationships. It was a sex-ed class PURPOSELY designed to go behind parents backs AND it was promoted by [UN]Planned Parenthood! When I asked the school about it, their response was "we sent all parents a note about this". I checked the note. All it said was "Next week, your chid will be taking a C.P.R. course." No where did it mention what it stood for or what the course would be about. It led everyone to believe it was a life saving course. And that was 15 years ago.

Now they take it upon themselves to teach our kids all the dirty crap about sex. I'm not a prude by any means but that's our job as parents, not theirs. I refer you to my next post following this one. (Thanks 1000 character limit)

Yaezakura: If they are doing such a fine job of 'reduce(ing) the number of abortions performed', then why is it that the number of teen pregnancies and abortions keeps increasing every year ? Both statistics have risen for over 15 years straight now.

Really ? Just how does an abstinence based organization "profit from abortions." ?

abstinence works 100% of the time, condoms do fail, the pill doesn't always work, 'Safe sex' is a lie. Roll the dice enough times and it will fail. Teaching kids that sex is 'safe' encourages them to do it when they aren't financially or mentally ready for such a burden, which leads to abortion.

They profit from fear--the fact abortion exists at all means people like you keep throwing money at them.

And if you're right that comprehensive sex education leads to more abortions, how is it a documented fact that regions with abstinence-only sex education have universally higher rates of teen pregnancy than areas with comprehensive education programs?

Yaezakura: You know who creates a need for abortions? People who refuse to teach kids about safe sex, who teach lies about condoms are unsafe and birth control doesn't work. Those are the people who profit from abortions.

CrakrJak, you're going to have to do better than a right-wing blog that sources itself as its reference.

But, for the sake of argument, let's say it's accurate. That means Planned Parenthood takes in a considerable amount of money by performing abortions, which it then spends on programs educating people about sex so that fewer abortions are needed in the future.

You're sitting here hating on an organization that has done far more to reduce the number of abortions performed in the US than pretty much ANY other organization.

Yaezakura: Planned Parenthood makes over $1 Billion in annual income, 3% of it's 'services' may indeed be Abortions, but the money from that 3% makes up over a third of their health center income, more than $300 million income is taxpayer funding and another third is donations. Source

3% of what they do does not equal 3% of their income. They perform over 320,000 abortions a year. They are guilty of circumventing statutory rape laws, tell children how to circumvent parental consent laws to get an abortion, and have a long long list of botched abortions that've left women sterile.

Their preferred method of population control is through abortion, it's sacrosanct to them, they profit from it tremendously.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Abortion services account for only about 3% of PP's services. Saying they profit tremendously from it or are entirely about it is like saying McDonald's is all about the cookies most people don't even know they sell.

And if they wanted to do tons and tons of abortions, it's awfully stupid of them to encourage the use of birth control, condoms, and other forms of contraception, as the usage of these drastically cuts down on the number of abortions people have.

You know who creates a need for abortions? People who refuse to teach kids about safe sex, who teach lies about condoms are unsafe and birth control doesn't work. Those are the people who profit from abortions.

"I was talking about parental permission on what schools can and can't do with their children. Hell, kids need a permission slip to go on a field trip to the zoo and nearly every activity, except for this pornographic propaganda."

I have never seen you admit when you are wrong. Do a quick Google search on Planned Parenthood and permission slips and you will see in fact that the kids do need permission to attend the PP sex education classes. So can you do it? Can you admit that you are wrong on this point?

Cajun: I was talking about parental permission on what schools can and can't do with their children.
Hell, kids need a permission slip to go on a field trip to the zoo and nearly every activity, except for this pornographic propaganda.

Planned parenthood sprang from the social hygiene movement, aka eugenics, it's about elitists that believe they know better than you do about how to teach our children and control population. Their preferred method of population control is through abortion, it's sacrosanct to them, they profit from it tremendously.

Let me ask you this, would you allow any other commercial enterprise to enter the school system and proselytize to your kids about their product and how to get it, without your permission ?

Somehow I highly doubt that.
