Saturday, March 03, 2012 10:20:01 PM McDonald's french fries are hardly potatoes... Truth there @LillianDulci! They're processed potato-like fried... thingies! It's quite an achievement in human history that more people are dying in our society from abundance rather than starving to death. @xiquiripat: profound! And true too! for your spherical offspring... LMAO! @LazyMe! Oh that was great! |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 6:29:19 PM Whatever. If I buy my son a happy meal it is because I BOUGHT it. He didn't. I eat fast food about two-three times a week and I'm not fat by any means. Fast food is not the enemy, it's fat lazy drats. |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 4:46:11 PM Squrlz: Kids in the 80s had all those sugary drinks as well, but we played outside, ran, rode our bicycles, played games, etc... Whatever sugar we ingested was exercised out of us through outside play. Kids today don't play outside enough, either because of their parents fear of pedos or their laziness to make them go outside and play and watch them. |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 3:32:50 PM Well obvisouly we parents can't be responsible for allowing our kids to eat there. This has made me mad enough to take away the car keys from my 6 year old! |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 10:50:19 AM I thought I was done, but I'm not. LOL. (Clearly, this topic is a hot button for me.) Here's a great example of the kind of crap product and crap marketing that helped turn an entire generation of young Americans into lard-butts. (Link) |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 10:42:15 AM (cont'd) Eating fruit in its whole form is healthy and should be encouraged. Drinking fruit juice by itself is unhealthy and should be eliminated from children's diets or discouraged. And absolutely *no one*, excepting marathon runners, should have sugar water drinks on their shopping lists. ~Squrlz steps off soapbox~ |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 10:39:54 AM The #1 culprit for childhood obesity in the USA, in my opinion, is the prevalence of the idea that giving your children 100% natural fruit juice (or worse: sugar water drinks masquerading as juice) *ad libitum* is a great thing to do. Fruit juice has generally had all the fiber removed. It is high-calorie and full of sugar (fructose if real juice, HFCS if not). Have you ever seen the fruit juice glasses used by our grandparents? You know, the generation that won the Second World War and were in generally far trimmer shape than we are today? They understood that drinking fruit juice is akin to having candy and their juice glasses were about the capacity of two or three shot glasses. They'd have a large "shot" of OJ with breakfast (to boost the blood sugar levels quickly) and that was usually it for the day. Today, every toddler I see seems to be biologically connected with a juice box. (cont'd next post) |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 6:43:50 AM Kids only get fat if you feed them more calories in a day than their body needs. These meals are only 510 calories, which isn't very much at all for a fast food item. Sure it isn't a very nutritious item I will definitely give you that but that doesn't make the kid fat. You feeding your kid pizza, pop, and donuts on top of a happpy meal is what makes them fat. Take some responsibility for your own terrible parenting skills first because even if they banned happy meals your kid would still be fat because than you would just feed them other crap to make up for it. |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 5:00:51 AM It's no surprize at all that McDonalds gives out more toys per year than Toys-R-Us. I don't think Toys-R-Us every GIVES away toys! |

Saturday, March 03, 2012 2:18:50 AM It's the parents' fault. Cook food for your kids. Stop being lazy. And when they whine and beg for some fast food, just tell them NO. Stop being push overs. |
