Man, that is embarrassing for us in our 40's. Have to take exception to Big Country and Devo being characterized as one-hit wonders; I've got at least 3 of each of their songs on my iPod.

Wow, I new Eddie Murphy rocked that girl who parties all the time but I had no idea Bruce Willis had that kind of respect for himself in the 80's! BTW, this compliation should be about 2 hours longer.

What have I done... I showed this to my wife, and all day yesterday, and whats looking like all day today she's been listening to all eighties weekend on the radio and proving to me she know everything about '80's pop music by telling me each artist they play... Never in my life have I contemplated piercing my eardrums so much in a weekend

Much better than the crap that's turned out today. Do think in 30 years people will remember Kesha, Lady Gaga, or Justin Beiber?

Nena a One-Hit-Wounder? No one in Europe would agree! She had 14! Top-Ten-Singles in Germany over a periode of 3 Decades.

if history has taught us anything it's that we should forget the past.

My vote would definitely be the Vapors "Turning Japanese" Check out the rest of their music. Outstanding stuff.

Like Crakr & 5Cats I too was an arcade junkie. Except I sucked at it.

5Cats: I was an arcade junkie as well, set a record score at my arcade for Yie Ar Kung-Fu PErfect first run
The third run through gets extremely fast, makes it much harder to get perfect scores.

as far as I am concerned, the 80 can stay nice and safe buried in the past.

so....dead-kittens, what do you consider an actual musician?

people that play their own instruments, sing their own songs, produce? Youre going to have to clarify.

vv lolz @Crackr! I worked in a video arcade in the 80s, I was a video game junkie! Only game I was 'best' at was Millipede (the follow-up to the very famous Centepede, eh?) otherwise I wasn't exactly a pinball wizard.

One guy played PacMan for 9 hours in one game, maxed the score iirc... but yeah, it was the exact same pattern after a certain point.

5Cats: Yeah I noticed that as well. a few of those bands had other hits. Btw, I've actually seen an original PacMan game go half-screen and seize up before, after the 9th key it doesn't get any harder.

Devo had other hits!
Pac-man fever was NOT a hit.
Sad that I know all the songs, can name almost all the artists, am singing along...
NAW! The 80's were good! lolz! Men Without Hats ftw!

I never claimed they weren't '80's tunes, I was only referring to snuffy's 90's anime warp jib with the dates of my avatar and link, I guess I could've put this as my link, she thinks this is headache juice too... it's hard to coney sarcasm via text with my retort to the anime warp "joke"

Smaus: Sorry, those were all 1980s tunes there. Many have been sampled from by other artists since then.

The 80's was the best decade for music, back when MTV actually had music videos.
