At times misguided.. But very much necessary in today's society !

@thatjimguy: Because there is no leader.. When an idea is brought up, they don't just blindly follow orders, but concider the consequences of carrying it out and then decide if they want to join in..

There's no structure of power because there's no 'real' organization. Any time anyone with a gripe wants to, they toss a video with a copied lead-in onto youtube, tell the masses to download the ion cannons and ping-flood the site they have a grief with...is it Anon? Who knows.

Are there some impressive individuals claiming to be Anon? You bet, the guys that destroyed HBGary did a terrifyingly good job of destroying them. Are all the guys posing as Anon really Anon?

There is no structure of power. That's how they're organised.

I can't wait for this to come out.
But yes, thatjimguy, I do feel that there must be a leading force in this, and I do wish I could point that force out. I can't pinpoint what it is. Perhaps it is that the law has made it so that this group, fighting for transparency, has become so increasingly complex and obscure it cannot understand its own structure of power; perhaps they make it so clear we can't even see it.

hmmm....we have no leadership...

proving right there how ignorant the followers are

How ironic that they probably think "other people" are "SHEEP"

When you dont know who the leader is...how do you know they are on your side at any given time?

@wolladude as long as you can differentiate between an unjust law and an inconvenient law.

On the Duty of Civil Disobedience

And a quote from King: - One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that "an unjust law is no law at all"

anonymous: 89% empty threats; 1% good poo getting done; 10% abuse of power.

not much of a group, more of a few independent hackers too pussy to admit who they are, afraid of being arrested.
unfortunately, anyone with any motive and any goal can claim to be with anon so.... pretty pointless.

Sorry about the fail description. I assumed it would never be posted since this is the first thing, that I submitted, to be posted. I just didn't want Fancypants to say I never submit stuff.

I disagree with how "powerful" they seem in this video, but I do agree with their message and overall goals.

I don't think I could ever join them even if I'd be an asset since I'm busy doing more important things and I don't perceive my freedoms being violated in any meaningful way.

I don't think Gerry gets it, but that doesn't matter much.

I believe that anonymous will have a hand in shaping the future of the world. While their methods aren't always the best, Anonymous has always stood up for what's right and will continue to do so.
@airsofter1: really? That's absurd. The Justice department RAIDED THEIR SERVER FARMS. They PHYSICALLY removed the computers upon which megaupload was hosted. You can't hack a hand truck.

@ TKD - WTF? How does stealing a political candidates credit card info protect our freedoms? I'm not fan of Sarah Palin but I don't see any positive outcome to their hack-attck on her.

Taking down a court web page protected which freedoms? ?

Anonymouse are just impotent attention whores.

People can hate on them all they want but anonymous is effecting change.

Every time I read "if you're so angry about it then get out from behind your pc and do something about it."

These guys prove you can do both.

I am not a member; I lack the skills and the balls. I am grateful though that people will risk their liberty to go after the biggest a-holes of the world such as Scientology, WBC, the US Govt's more nefarious arms and the banks that tried to silence Wikileaks. I know many of them are juvenile kiddies and some possess only the skills to click a hyperlink, but in aggregate I think they achieve real good in the world. Democracy is only valuable if the powers that be are threatened by the people. Revolution and terrorism go against my pacifist principles. Anonymous and their associates are getting more ambitious, but they know where to draw the line.
