I remember going to bed early on Friday's so I could wake up at four in the morning just to watch an hour of The Three Stooges and then and hour of the Monkees. |

Oh man. They were a great band. Manufactured, yeah but with real talent and backed by some of the greats of their generation. And crazy enough to say yes when Jack Nicholson and Frank Zappa suggested self-destructing in a blaze of inspired insanity.
If a Monkees song comes on the radio, it's three minutes of happy time. |

Oh, man...I actually saw him in concert when I was in high school, as part of a comedy show of actors performing as The Brady Bunch. They did the episode where Marcia got Davy Jones to perform at their prom, and Davy Jones played himself for real. Then Davy Jones sang some Monkees hits afterwards. My then-girlfriend's mom kept going on about how much she loved Davy Jones when she was a girl.
Remember: The reason David Bowie changed his name (his real name is David Jones) is because there was already this successful singer named Davy Jones, so David Bowie couldn't use the same name. |
