This reminds me of when my anxiety first got really bad it was mainly in the lunchroom at school the sound from all directions at the same time would make me sick to my stomach i have since been on medication and am doing better but the video brought back some memories.
I'm sorry for the run on sentience.

It's synaesthete. Not synaesite. That's all. And it's blue.

"I have to know people's personalities before they get a color"

then you are assigning colours to people, not names...

@carmium
Hooray, I'm blue!
Wait, does it change with pronunciation, like David, or 'Davie'?

Carmium- thats funny because to me, your name is very gold yellow with a bit of black at the end.(Well, your screen name is) This is mostly the A's fault for being so bright yellow. M's are orange and the I is a dark black.

My friend Edina's name is red. My sister Jo-Ann has a black one, brother Kevin is rusty red. Gisa the cat has a blue-gray name, while mine is more a regular gray. I have to know people's personalities before they get a color, like the bright yellow of Philip or blue of Dave.
And no one else will agree with me!

Tori Amos, Duke Ellington, Billy Joel, Marilyn Monroe and Richard D James all have/had Synaesthesia. I have always been interested by it but then one day I got to experience it with the help of some sacred cactus.

@GParadox
I'm similar; each number has a colour, and so does each day of the week. Letters have colours sometimes (but often they share them because I run out of colours I know), and smells remind me of sounds and images, and vice-versa.

I have a very mild form of Synaesthesia. I associate numbers with colours and personalities. When I was first learning about odds and evens, I realised that most odd numbers were from light yellow to green and most odd numbers are reds and purples. Many numbers have personalities. Six has an envious and manipulative personality. Nine is a strong golden colour with an easy feel. I think most people can experiences this and usually do while listening to music. As a child, I hated many songs and noises that were black and red to me. House of the Rising sun is an example. I still don't like loud places because my senses are easily overwhelmed. Its gotten better as I get older, but as a kid, I couldn't handle it.

I've been really curious about this. I'm not sure if I have it or not, but certain sounds do register as colored blips in my head. Not all of them, and not all the time though. Sound is more textural than colorful to me. Like really low bass tones make the world like a shaky cam.

I see colors and textures when I hear music. The closest I've seen to this is in 'The Soloist'. I also run a recording studio so it helps with my mixes. It's a lot of fun, but I don't like being the center of attention when someone finds out.

I used to do this, but it was kinda different. I remember I used to associate numbers with gender. I still remember all of them, too.

1: neutral or male (neutral meaning neither female or male, or sometimes I'll feel like it's more of one than another at the time)
2: male
3: definitely female
4: male
5: both sometimes
6: neutral, but more female
7: female
8: male
9: female
0: neutral

I'm a synesthete. Numbers in my head have certain colors (1=white 2=red 3=green 4=yellow, etc.). It doesn't grant me any special ability to do math better or anything, they just have colors. That's pretty much it for me.

Rick_S, I have synesthesia. :) This video is really not like my experience of it, though it's different for every person.

For me, sounds (especially music and voices) as well as tactile feelings create colors/shapes/movement in my head. I don't physically see it in front of me (unless I'm half-asleep). It feels like very strongly imagining something or picturing it in your head, but it's involuntary. Also, each letter and number is a color and has been ever since I can remember (which makes words and math very colorful). I understand the frustration of the guy in the video, because I can't do math and listen to music at the same time. The colors just get all jumbled up and confused in my head. Other than that, I really love having it.

Come on chat sometime and I'll tell you about it if you have more questions. :)

*Synaesthetes...

Considering all the amazing accounts of synaesthesia I've read previously, this was disappointing.
