Thursday, February 09, 2012 3:38:25 AM i really don't see why they needed a white guy for this. that makes no sense at all. while the answers wouldn't change much, they should do it both ways, black white, then reverse that. at the same time they should really be asking, name some historical white people that weren't presidents, and i think you'll find that's it's equal. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 9:55:39 PM @Lardcarcass I am not ashamed and you are not a filthy heathen. We don;t view people that way who are not part of the church. They are not supposed to anyway. I can't account for members individually, I just know that our doctrines are not of intolerance. You should listen to our view of the plan for salvation. You may think the whole literal idea is poppycock, but the idea I think you will find to be quite beautiful. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 3:20:08 PM Also, one of Joseph Smith's big goals when he was running for president of the United States was the ending of slavery. Which is part of the reason why he was killed. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 3:07:20 PM @herpaderp062 For me, it's not believing about things literally, but the ideals behind them, which bring me to Gerry1of1 @Gerry1of1 This is only somewhat true. Before I was converted, I look for a year at every controversy before joining the church and this was one of them. The LDS actually DID have blacks in the Priesthood in the early days of Joseph Smith. His name was Elijah Abel. He was baptized and given the Priesthood in 1832. Others followed. What happened is that sometime during Brigham Young's time as Prophet, a black man was calling himself a Prophet and sleeping with many white women. And that is what tore away the Priesthood at that point. It should be noted that there were still many blacks and native americans that joined the church. I believe that, from what I've read, the idea was to save many of them from slavery and extinction. However, there was always tension because some church goers were still racist and this whole incident sur |

Up until 1978, blacks could not be priests in the mormon faith. CJCLDS has as a core teaching that blacks are the mark of Cain and therefore "less" then whites spiritually. They don't preach that out loud anymore, but it's still there. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 1:23:16 PM Gotta say, I'm impressed with the actual black guys restraint. Wonder how many he had to talk to before he found one who'd actually talk to him and not one to deck him. Meanwhile, the comments and actions he showed of the white kids almost seem like they were under the impression "Well, if he gets to put on Black face, I guess I have to be "funny" too." What christian kid says "I worked with, you can say, colored folks." in front of a "colored folk"? None, he knew this guy was wearing makeup as most others seemed to. I also assume people are generally smarter than their opponents let on. Maybe I'm just wrong. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 12:26:41 PM I go to BYU-Idaho and a convert. Not thrilled by the video, but would like to see all of the interviews from start to finish just to get further ideas about how they acted, presenter included. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 12:24:08 PM So the people who were filmed, including the black people, didn't know a thing about Black History Month? Can only mean one thing, they're all racist. |

Wednesday, February 08, 2012 12:21:26 PM Most of the students from BYU are from states like Utah, Idaho & Wyoming. Black people represent 1% or less of the population of those states. Why would they be experts on black culture? |
