Seriously, when you confront people like this its going to make them act in odd ways. If it had just said meet a person, no one would have said anything peculiar at all.
Seriously, you'd be surprised how many people are willing to treat people of different races or backgrounds the same as anyone else if they don't make it the one feature that defines who you are. It doesn't cross my mind that a person is black if that person doesn't insist on trying to remind me of the fact every 15 seconds.
