@CrakrJak: There is blame on both sides of the aisle for the mortgage scandal (though I'd say it mostly lies with the banks), but my point wasn't blame, it was timing.

If you become mayor shortly after a town is decimated by a flood, you shouldn't take all of the blame for the fact that things got worse after you became mayor. That's just absurd. Things were going to get worse before they got better, no matter who was in office. That's just how things work after a disaster.

And yet, that's exactly the kind of "logic" some people try to use to impugn Obama. It's sickening.

"you look at the information from every January 31st since his inauguration. Then you'd get an actual idea of whether or not he has made improvements. Christ."

It would be down just the same. Really?

This is so ridiculous. He walked into a recession he had no part in creating.
How about you look at the same statistics, only instead of looking at inauguration day and today (which doesn't take into account the downturn shortly after his inauguration, before any legislation he enacted had an effect), you look at the information from every January 31st since his inauguration. Then you'd get an actual idea of whether or not he has made improvements. Christ.

You know what else happened since Obama became president? I had like 2 colds, a sinus infection, had to reformat my hard drive, Skyrim bookcases were bugged, and SO MANY PEOPLE took arrows to the knee... I could go on and on.

Worst. President. Ever.

U.S. Global Competativeness... huh? What is that? Frankly i don't think the US was #1 in anything on Obama's inaugral day.

@Crakr

So a net increase in revenue and a decrease in the deficit was (partially) the result of bills getting vetoed? Thank you for proving my point.

Cajun: No, It resulted in a balanced budget and a net increase in revenue.

Squrlz: Just because America hasn't joined in the lock step run into socialism, that Europe has, doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

The hell is a "misery index"? "U.S. Global competitiveness"? No sources, vague categories with no units of measure. Fail post is fail.

@Jammey: As do I. Or maybe "disheartening" is the correct word. Few Americans who haven't lived aboard are aware of just how right-of-center American politics currently are. It's one of the things that's holding the U.S. back in a big way. (The other being that the political process has been bought out by corporate interests to such an extent that we are now a representative democracy in name only.)

at the beginning of Bush's presidency, weren't we at, like, a trillion dollar debt? and at the end we were at 10 trillion? that's a 1000% increase, for obama, he's only at 50%... right?

I still find it fascinating how the US use the word 'liberal' as an insult

had budget cuts that Clinton disliked and he shutdown the government rather than sign them

Sure, but still would've resulted in a net increase in spending.

Cajun: The 'spending plans', aka budgets, that congress agreed to, had budget cuts that Clinton disliked and he shutdown the government rather than sign them. The budget was balanced despite Clinton, not because of him.

For brainwashing to work you have to get your victims into a constant agitated state. This is how the military works. Without the agitated state the logical brain works. The media did this to the liberals with Bush and they are doing it to the conservatives with Obama. As one who is not in an agitated state I can see clearly the brainwashing that is happening to conservatives. I will never go back even when my "side" loses. My eyes are wide open to the manipulation.

New Jersey had some of the lower gas prices in the country because they have their own refineries and gas never dropped below $2.00/gallon after shooting up to nearly $4.00/gallon in '08. Treehugger.com has gotten their facts mixed up. I know this because I delivered pizza from August of '08 to August of '09.

Also, it's hard to blame Obama for college tuition being so high. He can't force universities to set their prices to a certain amount.

This is coming from a guy who's pulling hard for Ron Paul to win. I've never been an Obama fan, but find it difficult to blame him for things outside of his control.

The fact remains that democrats are by far the big government, big spending, and most corrupt party in the nation.

Considering the spending plans that Clinton repeatedly vetoed in his second term (not that he's blameless for the housing crisis) and the expansion of government under Bush Jr, I found this assertion incredibly dubious.

Ummm.... everyone seems to be questioning the statistics without even doing a simple Google search, I questioned them as well, but then did the search because I can't remember when gas was 1.85 a gallon, but according to treehugger.com, it was in the end of 2008. Just do the search before you start yelling at conservatives just because they may have an ulterior motive, they did get the facts right this time.

Cajun: Not true. When republicans make a stand they get called partisan and divisive. When democrats do it they are called patriotic and determined.

The fact remains that democrats are by far the big government, big spending, and most corrupt party in the nation.

Oh... submitted by auburnjunky, from that internet bastion of truth and accuracy, mrconservative.com

Posting anything from this website as truth is simply dishonest.

Pretty weak AJ... this is the kind of thing I expect from Crakr...

He is saying that there was a 9% increase you tards.

As much as I hate Obama and think he spends way to much, I'm suspicious about the gas price. I don't ever remember gas that cheap (maybe cuz i'm in California). I like how we have a misery index.
