Monday, February 06, 2012 3:23:09 PM "It is a shameless example of two men using a young girl to further own ends, but I am sure she is speaking from the heart and it's in a good cause" the girl looks old enough to be to be making her own decisions, the father looks quite supportive to me. "What I have between my wife and I is a marriage. When you have people trying to alter the definition of marriage you take away from what I have. I understand clearly what these people want; they want to legitimize something that is not legitimate and in the process they are willing to hurt others to hide their shame." how does it hurt you in anyway? |

Sunday, February 05, 2012 6:05:49 AM @insane ai You are obviously against gay marriage and I would just like to say that I feel bad for you. It's sad that people are so afraid of what they don't understand. What I have between my wife and I is a marriage. When you have people trying to alter the definition of marriage you take away from what I have. I understand clearly what these people want; they want to legitimize something that is not legitimate and in the process they are willing to hurt others to hide their shame. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 5:52:54 PM Angilion gets it, why cant the rest of the world? Oh yeah, "god" said it is bad so the laws of our secular society must reflect that. *eye-roll* Why is america still fighting for the same freedom FROM religious persecution that this country was founded on? It boggles my mind how many citizens don't understand this, though they are most likely just the ones subverting the system to create more religious conversions. Religious zealotry is the foulest act of mankind and has created more pain and suffering in the name of "god" than any atheist organization anywhere. This video just one example of the unaccountably numerous crimes against humanity that religions have hefted upon the world, and it will not cease until people deal with mortality without making up fairy tales to placate their fear of death. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 5:38:53 PM BTW DiscoTerd this issue is about EMOTION and LOVE and perhaps it needs just a little less reason, which is all too often another word for justification...like how the religious right wingnuts try to justify their objections to same sex marriage because they are so weak and retarded. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 5:36:01 PM Discobiscuit you want reason from the side fighting for same sex marriage but what, except the absolute BULLCRAP excuses for reason that the other side comes up with for why it shouldn't be allowed???????? no offense, but somehow I doubt at your age you know much about reason, emotion or when there is and is not a difference between the two. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 4:20:56 PM It was a well intentioned and heartfelt statement by a 15 year old kid who wants her parents to have the same rights as others, disco. Sorry you're just a douche. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 3:49:33 PM I'm not getting her rationale. Perhaps because it's not rational. If you want gay marriage, then use reason, you'll get there. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 3:17:24 PM how could her parents not being married possibly affect her. if they both adopted her then they're both her parents legally. She's a much more politically useful front than either of her fathers would be. Her message doesn't have to be truthful - we're talking about politics here, so the truth doesn't matter much. Emotional appeals carry far more weight (if the person making them is in a "right" group, as she is). It's an ugly thing. I think that Ajikan is right, although I would extend it to polygamy. No logical reason not to do so. Or maybe I'd just stop marriage entirely. Why should the state use public money (taken from other people) to pay some people for their private relationships? |

Friday, February 03, 2012 2:43:24 PM Like the average American, it's probable that I'm going to be married and divorced a few times in my life... I hope at least one of those is a gay one. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 2:04:05 PM Really want to feel equal? Grow a dick and a pair of balls and get &^^%#ed up the rear. Still do not understand what you want to be equal to. My opinion still stands. She just wants attention on a world scale. No skills or looks. How can she possibly pay for everything unless she sells her story? |

Friday, February 03, 2012 1:55:39 PM Exactly what rights is she/he/it looking for? So your dads are gay. Get on with it. Neither one of them were capable of concieving you. Yet , I would wager that neither of them are your father, and now at your age of 15 , you have decided that the state is against you. WTF have you been doing for the last 14 yrs? This is just another media hog thats want's attention. Ohhhh, poor little girl can't accept that the state does not accept same sex marriage. You are 15. When did these 2 get together? Stop reading from your promt sheets and get rid of the forced tears. Grow the F up and get on with your life. Go to school and get a job. Marry whatever you want. Now F#$K off and leave the rest of us who don't give a ^&%$ alone. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 1:46:49 PM @I-IS-BORED There should be no difference in the eyes of the government. People are people. THAT'S IT. Treat everyone equally, namely unmarried persons are discriminated against in the tax code and it is not the purview of government to tell me that I have to file paperwork with them to get the same benefits as another couple. Not gay rights, but the right of those wishing to abstain from government oversight in their relationships. I am all for gay rights, but have no idea why they want to be part of an institution that existed to tell society which woman was this mans property. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 1:39:00 PM Why do people feel the need to draw up a contract to express their love towards each other? Contracts are to ensure that you have recourse when the other party deviates from the written contract. If you are not civilized enough to be able to resolve these issues within the household then you lack the ability to make said decisions in life. Stop wasting my drating tax money figuring out who is going to get the couch or the car. That goes for all relationships be you polygamist, homosexual, or whatever I do not care just stop wasting mine and the government's time and money and go about your life. |

Friday, February 03, 2012 1:29:26 PM @Zymotical there are plenty of things that change in the eyes of the law and the tax system between a married couple and 2 random men off the street |
