This was proposed by an ultra-Conservative Senator (who was appointed to the Senate by our ultra-Conservative Prime Minister). To be fair, his family has been directly impacted by violent crime. The bigger picture is that crime rates in Canada are falling, our P.M. ignores the facts of falling crime and is sinking billions into expanding the police/prison system, then cuts old age pensions to try to balance the books. We have a government of dick-heads, ass-hats, and nut-jobs...... |

So all of a sudden all 'murderers' are somehow evil and deserve to die regardless of the situation. The problem lies with the simple, shallow minded pric*s who think like that and maintain a so called justice system that is based on ancient bull*hit Christian beliefs and is more about punishment than actually rehabilitating people. OldOllie, you appear to be one of those pric*s. |

Going back to that cell everyday is worse than dying. Giving them a rope would be an easy way out for them. That's the facts, from my perspective.
While it's a punishment for their crime the main purpose is rehabilitation. That said you seem only to care that they suffer it out. I don't think they should get an easy way out either but maybe if we stop pushing non-violent people into our overcrowded systems we'd have more money for programs that put these a-holes to work giving back to the world. |

Why waste them? We could use them in pharmaceutical trials. Then when they get too messed up for that, we can send the over to the medical college for practice surgery. |

I don't see the issue, what if a murderer hung himself at home? Most likely no one would care, so than why you suddenly care if it happens in jail. |

I work at the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa so I see that guy on a daily basis. He lost his 2 daughters; one in 2002, rape/murder, the other in 2005, drunk driver. Also I think his wife lost a leg in the accident. It's easier to understand him once you know he's been through such hardship. |
