I was flipping through the channels on Sirius radio and landed on 128 African American talk or something. I didn't listen to it for two minutes before the host started talking about how Jews control the world and spend their time screwing over black folk. |

And Grendel, some of your points about where taxes have been spent are misleading. The homeless voicemail grant is something to help homeless people communicate with potential employers, landlords etc. So f*ck the homeless for trying to make something of themselves and not be homeless right? Also, the inflatable alligator was MISSPENT by the school district, that's not what the government intended the money for. Give some context for your claims next time. |

My statement was hyperbole.
When you're already over-taxed and such misuses exist, it's very reasonable.
1)"Over-taxed" is subjective.
2)I said "to never support a tax hike." Of course it's equally unreasonable to always support them. Like it or not the government decides how to spend the tax dollars. It's impossible for every citizen to micro-manage where their tax dollars go. There are things I don't agree about spending tax money on that my government does, but that doesn't mean we should vote on everything the government wants to spend money on. I write my MP, and that's the majority of what I can do. If you're unhappy with where your taxes go I suggest you run for office. |

Don't know where you're getting that BS, but I've not seen one member of the Tea Party say that there should be no taxes. (the 'Tea' in Tea Party is an acronym for 'Taxed Enough Already'.)
It's been my experience that the average tea party member know more about the need for taxes, and purpose of taxes and the missmanagment of taxes than your average liberal.
In fact, your average liberal/democrat solution to everything is "More Taxes".
Homeless don't have Voicemial? "More Taxes"
Need an inflatable alligator for your class? "More Taxes"
Need to know the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam? "More Taxes".

@MeGrendel: I'm not a mind-reader, so you said FICA and that's what I ran with. I'm not arguing that all your taxes combined may be a substantial portion of your income, just the SS and medicare ones. You definitely have a right to b*tch as a taxpayer, and rightfully should. But if it were up to teabaggers there wouldn't be any tax, and the sad fact of life is that taxes are how governments make money, and they are never static. It's unreasonable to never support a tax hike, sometimes it's necessary. |

I used FICA because the quote is an old joke. But was referring to all federal and state taxes.
And yes, $16,716.37 (state and federal) IS a good chunk of my money. ESPECIALLY as a good part of it is being missused and missmanaged. As I pay it, I have every right to btcih about it.
Somethings I think my tax money should not be used for:
-Bailing out GM or any other company.
-Earned income tax credit (i.e. redistribution)
-Union dues of ANY kind.
-Solyndra, Ener1, Evergreen Solar & other companies that can't make it on thier own.
-Gov't employees 'lifetime benefits' even if convicted criminals.
-And fraud of Welfare, Medicare, Food Stamps and virtually every government program in exis |

@MeGrendel: Income tax is a red herring. You stipulated FICA so I was referring specifically to the social security portion of payroll tax. State taxes weren't a topic either. I'm getting 6.2% for SS tax from Section 3111 of the IRS tax code.
So if you're only counting the SS and medicare portions of tax (7.65%) and the number you gave of $4331.73 ($13,729.46 - $9,397.27), then your gross earnings should be somewhere around $56,623.92. Granted I don't know all the loopholes, or your possible charitable contributions etc., but that's still only half of the $106,000 cap on SS. |

Gee, that's funny. Where'd you pull that number from?
See, my Federal Income Tax for last year was $9,397.27, and I do not make anywhere NEAR that $106,000 you mentioned.
In fact, if you add together Federal Income Tax, Social Security Tax, and Medicare Tax, I paid $13,729.46 in Federal Taxes taxes.
Plus an additional $3K+ for state taxes.
And yes, I agree the programs need to be overhauled to get rid of useless employees, fraud and corruption. |
