Tuesday, January 31, 2012 11:27:32 AM LordJim- no, I agree, miss him too- and I suspect he would flay those who attempted the beatification of St Hitch. No decent writer or creative person is sweetness and light- that make for glurge not writing or the ability to debate or speak. |

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 8:29:27 AM @TkA While some of these writers might appreciate the sales if they were the one to invent what you call "the greatest story ever told" I doubt many of them would like the social impact and the cult formation. |

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 7:59:11 AM sounds like 30 disgruntled writers who are jealous that they didnt write the greatest story ever told. God is real, and awesome!! |

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 6:13:12 AM madduck, Yup, Hitch was a bastard. A magnificent bastard. Did he have a dark side? Hell, yes. Just look at him. Was he sometimes inexplicably just plain wrong? Yes, in my opinion and I'm an admirer. If you want sweetness, light and infallibility try, I dunno, Mother Theresa? If you want an urbane, erudite, intellectual cage-fighting bastard who takes no prisoners then it has to be Hitch. Damn, I miss that bastard. |

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 5:55:35 AM A number of those points were ones I came up with years ago, and I am but a young and undeveloped mind in society. If I was able to present such arguments in such an adolescent state, surely the rest of humanity must be waking up as well. When will people snap out of the hypnosis? Christianity is being directed by man, and even if a fraction of all of the laws and moralities fabricated in such a totalitarian system were indeed created by a supreme being, there have been no claimed prophets or annointed ones to carry these laws for centuries! Think of a game of "telephone" stretched across centuries... would you be able to retain even a hint of the original message? |

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 5:48:17 AM yes, well, I seem to remember Davy that Hitch did a spell as a mouthpiece for the republicans, for all I admire much of what he did he was not always a very nice ( or accurate) person.... he was a writer and a good one, but also by many accounts a nasty drunk with flexible principles when it suited him. Odd combination- but not unknown in writers... |

Monday, January 30, 2012 10:32:28 PM Cool link. I must admit, I saw that it was 25 minutes long and said f*ck that, but I got engrossed. In the last clip, Hitchens didn't miss 'em and hit the wall, as mother would say, he was pretty savage. But the real revelation for me was watching the top "Related video" after this one was done. It was another 25-minute debate on a small-time tv show (best I can tell), featuring Christopher Hitchens and none other than Newt Gingrinch, candidate for presidency. I'll save you the 25 minutes (it wasn't that interesting, otherwise it would be posted here already). They agreed on most sh*t. Who woulda thunk it? |
