Wednesday, January 25, 2012 6:59:55 PM Why the F would you think that blood is blue in the body? By putting these things together: 1) Any blood vessel most people see on a day to day basis appears to be carrying blue blood (although I've heard that they can appear green with the right shade of skin colour and the right light levels). 2) Blood is red outside of the body. 3) Blood carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. From (3), conclude that blood coming back to the lungs doesn't have oxygen in it because it's delivered it all. That's what blood does, right? From that conclusion and (1), conclude that deoxygenated blood is blue. From that conclusion and (2), conclude that it becomes red by absorbing oxygen (a *very* reactive element) from the air. It's completely wrong, but it's not nonsense that only an idiot would think is true. |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 1:32:57 PM And why would tap water be bad? -- American marketers have convinced the gullible sheep that populate the United States that it is healthier to spend $2.50 for a bottle of your local water than to just get it out of your own faucet. |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 8:10:45 AM If Anyone actually believes any of these facts, I am disappointed with them, and with mankind in general. Why the F would you think that blood is blue in the body? And why would tap water be bad? The water one I had never heard of, of course you should stay hydrated at a reasonable level. And if you believed the bubble gum one or the fan one; seriously? |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 7:07:03 AM Furthermore it's like the Disney and lemmings myth that they wilfully walk off cliffs dieing. It would be kind of weird for insects to wilfully walk into our mouths to die, because surely it can't be an attractive location for them..... but hmmm nonetheless |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 6:57:46 AM I did know these, but love shooting people apart with things like this. My fave is when people ask for a 'really bloody steak' thinking this makes them some kind of vampire/nutter. Then you point out the red stuff in steaks is not actually blood..... their whole world is shattered. |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 5:26:30 AM Davymid: I don't know about them crawling down someone's mouth, but do know a person that had a roach crawl up his nose into his sinus cavity. He complained of a stuffy nose, blew it, looked at the tissue (bad move) and quite literally freaked out when he saw it, grew pale and then threw up. And we've seen video of a roach removed from one's ear canal, so who knows for sure. I really really hope they don't. |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 1:25:39 AM Realistically, the average number of spiders swallowed at night per person per lifetime is probably less than one. After all, most people breathe while they sleep (at least I do) and spiders, like virtually all arthropods, flee from breath. After all, there are lots of vertebrates that EAT arthropods, and if you're an arthropod and something is breathing on you, it's not a good idea to stick around. Simple enough. PLUS to say spiders like warm wet places is RIDICULOUS, most prefer dark, dry, STILL AND NON BREATHING places. come on! now he says it was joke, which i am sure it was. but you guys are eating it up!! |
