Thursday, January 26, 2012 2:31:02 AM He's mainly done special effects but he's branching out a bit. He even co-produced insidious so he's hardly unknown. That being said, he's a link to the short's IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1956429/ and if you look below there's an estimation that it cost 25k to make. |

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 7:23:14 PM That was fan-drating-tastic !! Easily a three-movie story arc possible, and people would line up for you to take their money, mountains of money !! |

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 2:36:30 AM ... Unfortunately, if it does get picked up by a studio, they will probably peel away everything that could have been good about this movie and leave us with crap. |

Monday, January 23, 2012 6:02:06 PM Here's what the OP Aaron Sims states on the YouTube description: Update 1: Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! This has been a labor of love on a budget of $0 with personal expense on my part and no funding. It makes it all worth while when we see other poeple responding to it. Thank you! - Aaron Sims Update 2: I want to thank all of you for the support and positive feedback I've received about my short film "Archetype". This project was a labor of love, and so many talented, hard-working people helped in making it come to life. "Archetype" would not have been possible without all the talented individuals who contributed their time and skill, and I thank them - each and every one. Please tell everyone you know to watch the short; the more people and positive responses we receive (and even likes on the YouTube page that we get) make a difference. With your help, we can hopefully get the feature version made - so |

Monday, January 23, 2012 5:27:03 PM According to this it appears that this is part of a class that was taught in part by Aaron Sims. Look for Archetype in the boxes: Master of Classes According to this, it will also be made into a full length movie: ...ology from the link above: "Sims is now looking into a feature-length adaptation of the story, roughly based on the short film but with added 'fun surprises and depth.' I'd completely see this in theaters and congratulate Sims on his achievement." |

Monday, January 23, 2012 4:06:12 PM "but $0 budget? come on! there are sets and actors and time spent editing and designing. Someone spent money on this, even if no one got paid..."(also to other similar comments) Everything in this could have been done with open source software such as Blender, or a free open source multimedia distro like Dyne Bolic. This also may have been a school project that is intended to be part of a portfolio. As for the number of sets, just how many are there? Before you answer see this video: Boardwalk Empire effects |

Monday, January 23, 2012 2:48:12 PM For those saying "Give this guy money hollywood!" This man has already made movies for Hollywood. Specifically: Transformers 3, Spider man and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. His name is Aaron Sims. Saying it cost "$0" is meaningless, because Mr. Sims funded the project. It's just a meaningless marketing phrase. |

Monday, January 23, 2012 2:31:19 PM I'm really skeptical of the 0$ budget. That was a huge staff in the credits. And it had three producers. But maybe they all gave their time for a slice of future profits. |

Monday, January 23, 2012 12:46:41 PM i dont think for a second it cost 0$ unless he was using someone elses internet access and pirated the software to do this and secretely recorded the audio without people knowing and was connected to someone elses power supply. Only in this case did it not cost him anything to make this |

Monday, January 23, 2012 12:26:01 PM This probably cost him a bit to make. $0 budget is misleading. |

Monday, January 23, 2012 12:20:44 PM Hmm...Joe Haldeman's "Forever Peace" comes to mind here. And "zero-dollar" is really just a filmmaking term. It doesn't necessarily mean no money was spent. It's used more for marketing purposes. In other words, you tell people "we made this for nothing" or "this was a million dollar film," etc. It basically means no outside financing. |
