Friday, January 13, 2012 7:45:15 PM "I'm sure someone with a degree will quickly tell me I'm wrong. Anxiously waiting." Yea...sorry about that. :) Water is an exception due to ordered intermolecular hydrogen bonding between a hydrogen atom and another molecule's oxygen. In most other cases, a solid is more dense than the same molecule's liquid which is more dense than the same molecule's gas. The liquid nitrogen exploded because the liquid warmed to a less dense gas. |

Friday, January 13, 2012 6:50:39 PM Most liquids expand when they freeze to a solid. Durpa. Guess they've never made ice cubes. I'm sure someone with a degree will quickly tell me I'm wrong. Anxiously waiting. |

Friday, January 13, 2012 4:42:25 PM Doubt it was glass, that would have some serious injuries. Probably plastic bottle, we use to pour liquid nitrogen in them to freeze rubber tubes and shatter them in my college research group. Guessing the ringing was a piece of plastic hitting metal or glass that has some resonance frequency. |
