Pawn Stars deals with a lot of different items that have a historical context. Ancient Aliens offers an alternative POV on certain types of historical events and the 2012 Apocalypse material deals with what our possible (probable since we live in a cosmic shooting gallery) may be.

Pawn Stars, like almost every other 'reality show' out there, is a lie. Staged, if not scripted, interactions between actors.
Even if it were real, I don't think 'historical items' alone makes it valid for the history channel. History channel should be as boring as History class was, because hey, some people like it that way. |

I remember over ten years ago the "TLC" The Leaning Chanel had educational programing. Remember over 25 years ago "MTV" music television played music.
A lot of them are doing it. Its call "rating whoring"

Actually Crakr, many of the item buys are set-ups for ratings. They hire actors to bring in "antiques" that are often just borrowed from nearby stores. |

Anyone else get really irritated with the fact that Animal Planet's slogan is now "Surprisingly Human".
Come on. Really? You know humans can't get enough of themselves when even the ANIMAL channel, the one channel we have devoted to animals, is trying to convey how much human-related content they have. |

I dunno, the Nastrodamus stuff, though completely loony, is not only fairly interesting, but is based quite a bit on history. Same with Ancient Aliens (most of the time), looking at ancient "things" and discussing very enlightening, if not at least entertaining and captivating, hypothesis.
But Pawn Stars, Ice Road Truckers, Axe Men... Things like that.. Complete garbage. |
