Destroying our civil rights and trashing the constitution is ok but speaking up about it is not ok because it causes a "public disturbance". So sad. |

By not doing anything to prevent the government from "extinguishing the kind of free speech this country was founded on", aren't we accomplishing nothing?
I'll be the first to say you should always try to resolve any conflict through peace and understanding. But when your opponent doesn't care about that isn't time for a change in tactics?
The OWS and other protests have been mostly peaceful demonstrations to which there is ample evidence of those in charge either not caring or abusing their power to silence the dissidence. Tell me what is to be gained from these peaceful demonstrations when the end result is always the same.
I'm not saying we should embrace anarchy and take up arms against every cop, politician, etc. but you have to willing to stand up for your rights and sometimes that can't be done peacefully. If it could be done peacefully we wouldn't have had to be standing up for them in the first place. |

@thesandwich: I'm not sure you're getting the whole civil disobedience thing.
Had the protesters done what you suggest (i.e., resisted/fought the police), this whole board would be blowing up with people writing about how the OWS movement was a bunch of thugs and that the police are justified in using force against them.
Instead, by keeping their demonstration peaceful, we have a clip that shows the true colors of what's going on with our government and the people: namely, our government is now assiduously extinguishing the kind of free speech this country was founded on. |

This video proves two things:
1. Even Americans are feed up their government and want it changed.
2. They are a bunch of pussies.
If they truly cared about protesting an act about detaining people, they would have quickly done the math that they outnumber the cops 10 to 1. Even when they have guns and batons I would still favor the side with a huger force in that close of range. |

it has begun ladies and gentlemen, the time for a new era is coming, maybe it is not what the mayanz(aztecs, not exactly sure) predicted, not an actual end of the war, but i time when all humanity will change, look to your surrounding people, there is more destruction against their government. People have seen the real faces of the government, maybe aliens will come or maybe the world natural disasters will come, but where will you be when this happen, i say that we must be prepare for what is going to come... |
