Friday, January 06, 2012 5:51:58 PM @randomxnp Go look up SOPA and PIPA, due up in front of the House and Senate once they come back from recess. The internet is not uncontrollable; ask anyone in China, and if those bills pass, ask anyone in the USA. |

Friday, January 06, 2012 11:55:16 AM Errrrmmmmm ... surely four companies is far from being a monopoly. Add to that fact the rather obvious one that the internet is a major source of information and entertainment now, and not only uncontrolled but pretty much uncontrollable by deliberate design, and this video is ridiculous. |

Thursday, January 05, 2012 9:09:56 PM The television is that big thing you use to play xBox on. It looks similar to a monitor, but isn't connected to a computer. |

@ Lazy - I have not forgotten what tv is. Television: (1) A device used by corporations and the government to rapidly disperse disinformation to the public. (2) A means by which people shop for tacky jewelry. (3) Pre-internet porn viewing device. |

Thursday, January 05, 2012 2:00:42 PM You are right Batmanners. And why people rely on the media to tell them the truth is mind boggling to say the least. They could not care less about anyone. They make Joseph Goebbels look like the tooth fairy. |

Thursday, January 05, 2012 12:44:05 PM Sorry, I tend to forget about inferior technology, and like Gerry, have forgotten what television is. |

Thursday, January 05, 2012 10:56:19 AM It's all too eerily true. I don't think it's conspiracy theory though, the media bias is the hardest thing to see through. If you own the distributor of information, you can control people. Do you really think there is money to be made just telling news? Why would you run bad PR on YOUR news channel? If you make others look bad, make politicians that you aren't lobbying look bad and the corrupt ones get the power, which benefits the company wallet.

Thursday, January 05, 2012 9:03:34 AM Same problem in Norway, actually. The blame it on the "small country = few owners" but it was not like that before, and then we were even fewer. On a positive not, the two largest media houses here are owned by one private corporation, and the other one is owned mainly by a labour- union. So there is a certain balance of interest. And also all paper publications, except glossy magazines get a pretty big, equal amount of money. It helps to create diversity. But still, the board- room corporation model with stockholders and what not, is not good for the independence of the press. Revealing serious problems about government and other powers, should be nr. one priority for all news outlets - money should merely be a positive consequence. |

Thursday, January 05, 2012 8:30:29 AM Like Gerry said, it would be funny if it wasn't so true. Not sure we're much better off here in the UK; maybe the the BBC just hide it better :s |
