My "sources" tell me I have the largest member in the world... and my "sources" tell me that Barack will be at my house later tonight... hmmm... Sources? You know, I think it was Stalin who called people in the US who talked about how good communism was "useful idiots"... so now they aren't protestors, they're "rebels" trained by the U.S.? We should support Assad? and its all the fault of the US? hmmm...

"But sneeking them in doesn't sound like something the US could pull off."

General run down of the past 15 years of specops.

Rangers - High tactical/high artillery ops generally involving securing targets ALIVE. Friendly or hostile targets.
CIA - Interrogation of said targets, along with observation of future targets.
Green Berets - Using information from said interrogations to help train locals in securing the mutual interests of the locals and the US. Occasionally directly assisting said locals.
Seals - Bona fide hit squad.

Task force sierra meshed the organizations closely together so they occasionally perform similar tasks, but for the most part they likely still operate under this same general umbrella.

I know violence. I'm comfortable with it. There are far more people like myself in "random muslim country" than there are in "random christian country."

@Baalthazag: Run that by me again please, how was Lybia a direct threat to the USA again?
------------
Baal, Allow me. America doesn't need a direct threat as Iraq, the Balkans and Vietnam have proven. We do what we want to do and you just have to deal.
That was a bit flip but yeah we do stuff we have no business doing. Libya was the right thing to do and we were already there anyway.

So, where'd herr Obama get these troops from? It took months and a lot of effort to get troops to Afganastan and Iraq {twice}. Where'd he sneek these stealthy soldiers in from?

Sending troops does sound like something US would do. But sneeking them in doesn't sound like something the US could pull off.

KNOW YOUR NEWS SOURCE. While RT is a good source for news in general you need to know that they are based in Russia. And Russia has a tight relationship with many enemies of the USA; including Syria.

So when you see a Russian based news agency speaking ill against one of the allies enemies... you will need to take it with a grain of salt!!

More on topic:
This doesn't actually seem that big a deal though. The US has always had troops in these locations as you can see here.

This is not a "new deployment". This seems like current deployment changing activities whilst there is a civil war in a borderland.

IAB doesn't have enough posts per day to point out "Mid east meddling you might not have heard about". As Dr.Paul pointed out, the resentment is because of actual, constant presence and meddling, not the occasional action.

Rereading what I typed, perhaps I wasn't completely clear, considering a lot of you probably aren't completely aware of what's going on over there.

In this instance, America chose option B. Now, of course that could chance to option A, but it's doubtful imo. Honestly, I don't know how anyone with a complete grasp of the situation criticizes ANY beret operation. This woman seems to have a fairly accurate grasp of what's going on, I just don't understand what she's got a problem with...

I'm clearly biased as this is a report about beret activities, but I'm failing to see the issue here. Option A: America mobilizes it's entire army and kills everyone brown everywhere (except israel) Option B: Beret's show dissidents (be them iraqi, afghani, libyan, egyptian, bahranian, or syrian) key strike targets, supply them with contacts in the area to arrange armaments, and allow them to take custody of detainee's we have no further use of, to let them fight their own war's. Option C: Sit back and watch every country in the middle east become North Korea.

To be fair, I'm not particularly afraid of North Korea, and honestly, do not care what North Koreans do to fellow North Koreans. I mean, is that the only thing people are protesting here? Is it just "If syria's rebels want to go die at the hands of the syrian military, let them do it without any assistance like men!"

LOL, @ the Republicans in the room.

You're all in agreement that you think this is wrong, but not exactly sure why.

"Too much war... oh wait poo that's us ummmm.... not enough war... no wait poo... um... how dare they criticize the US preside.... wait crap we're doing that... erm... liberals SUCK!".

Long story short, I think the US should have gotten involved in Syria, and in Libya, not in Iraq, and I'm mixed about Afghanistan.

As I said before, Libya is everything the Republicans pretended Iraq was. The war in Libya has 1% the budget of the war in Iraq, actually had genuine international support (including the Middle East) and had an international force, not a 94% American force with token troops from a few other countries, and was a genuine immediate threat.

@photomstr: No. The rest of the world is not glad at all - with the exception of the few countries that profit from it (israel, france, UK).

The rest are pretty much outraged and disgusted.

For being a supposed peacenik, Obama has been a bigger warmonger than Bush ever thought of being.

Obama has more neo-con street cred in three years than the entire Bush administration had in their entire run. I'm sure that eats them up.

Bush n 'Bama are just figureheads. Faces in front of a camera. The rest of the world is secretly glad the U.S wants to play policeman. They also pray 'merca gets it right this time . . . I just hope the Allies pay their fair share. Go get 'em boyz!

@ CrakrJ - As much as it pains me to defend Obama, he has yet
to start a single war while Bush started two. How can you compare them?
Time will tell of course.
