Wednesday, December 28, 2011 4:06:42 AM When I threw my first grenade at trainig I was really nervous as well, I threw it well and ducked straight after, the instructor grabbed me by the neck, lifted me up asking: did you see where you threw it? and course I shouted yeah yeaah yeeees! made it even more thrilling.

Tuesday, December 27, 2011 4:17:09 PM @Deviros As of 5 years ago they still did the live fire overhead. And I remember one guy held on to the grenade too long and threw it straight down right on the other side of the wall. Bad day for him. |

Tuesday, December 27, 2011 11:13:56 AM @Gerry: you might be (hopefully) wrong! They (as of 12 years ago, anyway) still shot live ammo overhead, still used full-blown arty sims, and STILL paint on the uniforms of the screwups! I've heard some stories of them lightening down, but not too bad i hope =D |

Tuesday, December 27, 2011 11:10:57 AM @Steelgrid: That's pretty much exactly right. The first time you hold a live grenade with the intention of using it is a very unique experience. So it the second... and the third, really. A similar incident happened to one of the privates when i was at basic as well - similar range set up, and thanks to the DS' quick thinking, no one was seriously injured (a single piece of shrapnel in his hand) |

Tuesday, December 27, 2011 10:58:50 AM While I have never had the pleasure of throwing one of these myself, I can imagine holding a small bomb with the power to kill in your hands for the first time can be very nerve wracking. Although i cannot imagine a feeling that would prevent me from clearing an 8 foot foxhole. This is clearly not the first time this has happened. Good design on the range. Quick thinking on the instructor's part. I hope for the rest of the world's sake.....that this dude made it is!!! |

Monday, December 26, 2011 11:26:26 PM I call BS. If anyone really recorded that in China and it leaked to the internet, that person and anyone related to them would be jailed or killed by the Chinese government. |

Monday, December 26, 2011 10:52:16 PM Hah- Reminds me of live grenade training in basic. Luckily nobody fudged up and dropped the grenade like that. Would have been interesting, though. Had a couple guys who messed up practice grenades with an 8 and an arrow pointing up done with chalk on their helmets. |

Monday, December 26, 2011 2:37:18 PM The problem is that the guy throwing is left handed. LEFT handed. So throwing with the right means... |
