Oops. Sorry for repost, bookmarked it with posting info. X-D

@Revolutioniz: You're basically proving my point. However, just because it explains why people might reject it, doesn't mean that it's true.

Also, this is not about a lack of understanding on my part, this is about demonstrable nonsense. Attempting to claim you have an equation for consciousness is a primary example of that. "Consciousness" is poorly defined and cannot be reduced to a simple equation. I studied Computer Science and Cognitive Science/Artificial Intelligence in college, and I've kept up with the research. If you think that equation is "science" then you need to turn in your degree.

Finally, instead of simply telling me how ignorant I am and bragging about how you supposedly understand it, why not try explaining how I'm wrong? Cite some of these "facts" I disagreed with.

I'd like to hear what real scientists think about it first.

I loved the video, 4 stars. The illustrations and animations were also beautiful, no to mention the music. I thought he said in the beginning that some of it was theories and other things facts.

I saw it more as a informative program on science, and interesting theories surrounding it, at the moment.

Nope, just someone who can respect the amount of time the person who made this spent on it. all the research they did, and most of all i hate when ignorant people say facts aren't facts. especially when they're so easily looked up and verified. It's annoying to say the least. -Coming from a physics student.

@HiEv This video explains in pure fact based on neuroscience why people aact that way towards opinion/beliefs. You're demonstrating fully how correct it actually is. this someone impedes on you, and all you can do is say how false it is, when nothing in here was made up. it's a simple video simplifying otherwise more complex subjects. your lack of understanding is proof that this upsets your brain somehow, and your general ignorance is forcing you to put it down. This is sourced and backed BY REAL SCIENCE, especially the quantum physics part, i would know, i study physics. You're so upset over something that you don't agree with, but you only don't agree with it because you don't actually understand what it's saying.

I thought this guy was turning my brain inside out with this junk. Then I saw everyone bashing him for trolling then i wanted to dismiss it, Then i remembered that the brain seeks validation from the general concensus and that changes the brains function. Unless this guy is full of sh*t. Man, i'm drunk.

Further ponderings on why I didn't like this video...

1) It has a built-in explanation for why people will reject the theory (contained in the part about the brain). Basically, it slyly suggests that anyone who doesn't accept their theory is too emotionally attached to their preconceptions to think rationally and accept this theory over their own.

2) It's not science. Going straight to the public with a book, website, talk show discussions, or a slick web video is the hallmark of pseudoscience. REAL science requires hard work: designing and running scientific tests in an attempt to disprove your hypothesis, publishing scientific articles in peer reviewed journals, and defending your thesis among peers in the field(s) of research you are in. There were some bold claims made in the video, but none appear testable. And if it's not falsifiable, then it's philosophy, _not_ science.

Yeah. With the opening they nearly breaks their arms patting themselves on the back for how wonderful and complex this theory is. After that, it's OK for a while. Some overreaching conclusions are made from weak evidence, and a few other questionable bits, but not too bad.

However, at around the 28 minute mark it dives straight into pseudoscience with an equation for consciousness (C=hf), and then rapidly descends into technobabble nonsense. For example, one cannot simply equate the changes in length and the rate of time in relativity to the wave/particle duality of quantum physics. They're both counterintuitive, but that doesn't mean that they're both aspects of the same thing.

Basically, some interesting research, but some BS conclusions not backed by any real science.

I also think that the video seems all to polished and professional to be a troll. I'll have to look into it for myself.

To think that our personalities are nothing but chemical reactions is depressing. Logic compels me to accept this, but logic also compels me to ignore it. No reason to make my self feel that way, it's unhealthy. Ignorance truly is bliss.

I got about 50 seconds into it and got tired of being told what my opinion of the documentary was going to be. Don't start by insulting me if you want me to watch your tripe.

I suspected it was pseudoscience 1 minute in. Time saved not watching.

OK, so I was really interested in this because I research computational neuroscience while my degree is in physics, I start watching, thinking this is really interesting until 27 mins when he starts talking random bollocks, only then do I read down to hear and see that this guy is either a troll/nutjob. goddammit.

(cont)Even though you may perceive it as "red", and every instance where I indicate that it's "blue", your universe will have that as "red".
It is, then, impossible for me to perceive the universe in any other manner than how I perceive it, and it is impossible for you to perceive the universe in any other manner than how you perceive it.

Some very interesting points. However, it doesn't take into account of a 10-dimensional universe, where the observable universe is only affected by the observer.
On a quantum level, our brains flit through all dimensions of space-time, existing within every point simultaneously. All possibilities and all probabilities exist. It's our perception (which is different than our consciousness) that makes sense of this, and provides us with the perceived reality of the universe. And, since the cells in our brains are coded in a certain way, we can only perceive the universe in one possible and probable manner.
I have perceived, for example, that the wave length of light reflecting off nitrogen atoms is "blue". As a result, the sky in my perceived world is blue...however, I will perceive everyone in the world as regarding that wavelength as "blue". If I ask anyone what colour the sky is, the response will always be "blue". Even though, you may see t

Apparently it is the WOW Athene..Wait what?
Very interesting video, but at one point the unknown to me terms and the beautiful graphics started to distract me too much to be able to comprehend anything.

I shared a dorm once with a kid who was taking a bunch of philosophy and psych 101 classes. A lot of the stuff he said sounded a lot like this "theory".
