Not saying this is excusable, but companies like Fed-Ex and UPS are notorious for hiring seasonal help and laying off hard after the holidays, so they get people that don't give a damn because they know they will not be staying long.

As bad as these recent FEd-Ex videos are, I still choose Fed-Ex over the drating USPS! Now they SUCK!

What's making me mad isn't the broken stuff, it's the fact that THIS jerk-off has a job that pays well and he's treating that luxury (nowadays) with such disrespect....

that is how it's done. i've seen big bags of stuff flung into the back of a truck, worth $1000's just tossed. and in the warehouse it's much worse they toss things around. their on belts, i'm sure it's dropped. it's amazing more things aren't broken.

though you would think that it would be easier to keep it all higher, so now he has to bend over to get everything.

How do you think the packages are handled in the FedEx warehouse? I don't think there's a team of elves carrying them gently around. These recent FedEx videos show what has always happened with mailed packages.

I almost got run off the road by a crazy Fed-ex driver.

I emailed the complaint as there was no listed number I could find. I gave them the time, location, and license plate. They replied they needed more information, as in, the postal code. How retarded is that, there a mail company, I think they can look that up them selfs. Anything to get out a complaint, the pricks.

Sorry, but a few videos of a few bad seeds do not make FedEx a bad company. This is one of the issues with viral videos like this: It can make it seem as though an entire organization promotes a culture that fosters this sort of behavior, when it may be reality that a company has 10 bad employees out of 30,000.

If FedEx promotes this sort of behavior (explicitly or implicitly), it should be punished - either through a process of litigation or market mechanisms - but I don't think it should be judged on the basis of a few videos. The same goes for any organization or individual, by the way.

For what it's worth, my wife runs a small side business out of our house and receives regular shipments of products through various package delivery services. Both the FedEx and UPS couriers are courteous, and neither group mishandles our packages from the truck to our door.

@SilverThread: ...Really? THAT'S what you think happened? You think this is a stolen FedEx truck with fake packages and a non-FedEx guy in a FedEx uniform pretending to do this on some crappy web video (sorry, the slow-mo was annoying) to hurt FedEx's reputation? Ever hear of Occam's Razor?

@WeePee: Whether the contents are broken or not actually isn't relevant. I wouldn't want the packages I ship to be tossed around like that, even if I was shipping sweaters. If I pay for something to be shipped, I expect it treated with care. End of story.

I built a scale model of a catalytic coal plant exhaust scrubber for the company that builds them. It fit like a glove in a custom reusable case and was shipped across the continent safely to the client. All was well as it traveled the US from one trade show to another until somebody called Fedex. What they sent us back was nothing more than a heap of styrene and Plexiglas shards, bent metal, and loose screws.

This seems pretty accurate, honestly. I've never had a good experience with FedEx. The idiots couldn't even find my house that was directly on a major highway. UPS and the USPS were always able to find it just fine. And one time FedEx actually dropped a friend's package out of the truck while the truck was moving. Completely ruined several parts for the car she was building, including mangling the hood.

And WeePee, I've worked retail. Anyone who treated merchandise like that would be instantly fired. The stock rooms have movable lift platforms and forklifts to get down the stuff stored up high.

Now, it may not hurt a box full of notebooks or something to be dropped. But FedEx has no clue what's in the packages. They could be full of rare hand-crafted china for all they know. Treating their customers' belongings in this way (and trust me, they do) is not only dangerous, but flat out rude to the customer even if the item isn't broken.

Ya know, if I worked for UPS and wanted to wreck the reputation of FedEX, I might fake a video like this.

if nothing is broken, no harm no foul. theres packaging for a reason. and lazyme already covered the macbook answer for me.

it does happen. when a box is on the high shelf in the back room, guess how it reaches the floor.

lets get some proof that anything in those boxes is broken, then you can point all the fingers you want. until then, i could care less how it is handled.

so you would be happy if you purchased a $2000 macbook and this is how the guy unloaded it?

I wouldn't be happy purchasing the macbook, period.

I'm not using fedex, if ever I have the chance of selecting a delivery service. Luckily newegg uses purolator.

You get what you pay for. FedEx is famous for only hiring part time and never giving them full time so they never have to give them benefits, sick time or vacation pay. Also, make them stay late but not pay any overtime.

Of course the worker doesn't care if he hasn't had a raise in 6 years.

fed ex is going down fast. their name has been dragged through the mud with people like these. and WeePee, that doesnt happen in most retail stores because people like their crap unbroken. if my boss saw me or anyone else doing this we would be fired on the spot. we need people like the guy videotaping to let us know who to not use for shipping. like i said before, goodbye fed-ex

and this is exactly what happens in the back room of most retail stores, so unless that guys goes to inspect every item to make sure it is in fact broken, maybe he should mind his own business.
