Wednesday, December 21, 2011 12:57:48 PM @Crackr: I get the online version of the Christian Science Monitor. It gets emailed to me weekly, ergo it is a PERIODICAL which is not the same as the Monitors website. Every other major publication does the same thing. Your futile effort to cloud the issue in pointless semantics is getting you nowhere. The fact is she was asked a very simple question, and she failed to answer it. And instead of coping to her mistake and clarifying it she attacked the "lamestream media" instead. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 7:40:29 AM Katie Couric's question was "What newspapers and magazines did you regularly read?" (Full clip here.) Maybe it's the Christmas spirit, but rewatching Palin's response today, I'm inclined to be more forgiving of Palin than I was the first time around. She'd just been thrust onto the national stage by McCain, was nervous for this big interview, and her mind clearly blanked. She then tried to finesse the question in a way that she'd no doubt successfully done before with the local media. But Couric and CBS pounced on the moment to make the case (accurately, I think) that Palin wasn't quite ready for the big leagues. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 6:40:17 AM @Andybme I've heard them call the ex-presidents "Mr.President". I guess if you earn the title it sticks. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 6:23:34 AM @Crakrjak: Oh, please. You know it wasn't a vocabulary test.It was a simple question to find out what her interests are. She was a candidate to be the leader of the free world, so yes, Americans expect her to know what a periodical is. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 5:58:50 AM @DMoneys36 she knows nothing of US history. She can't think on her feet, simple questions elude her. She QUIT her ELECTED position after just 2 years. She doesn't want to be a public servent...she wants to be a star. She is everything that is wrong with our country. Don't ask us why she is stupid...look it up for your self. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 5:07:05 AM xiquiripat: The question was specifically stated as 'periodicals', not internet websites. pe-ri-od-i-cal: noun A publication issued at regular intervals of more than one day. Websites are not 'published', aka printed, and are usually updated daily. My point was that an interviewer should not ask questions in the manner I described. Unless they are 'pedantic' and trying to outwit them. No interviewer should test the vocabulary of their interviewee. As you can see it can mislead people, just like it mislead you, into thinking one thing when it meant another. |

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 4:08:35 AM She obviously wants to start running after 95% of the debates are over. She's a great candidate until she STARTS TALKING. |

"Sarah Palin Says There's Still Time To Run In 2012. Sarah Palin for President in 2012? She's thinking about it." You spelled 'attention whore' wrong. |

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 11:43:49 PM @Crackr: Most print publications kept their names when they moved online so it makes zero difference if it's in a magazine or on the web. PC World is still PC World. So she could have said The Atlantic, The Economist, The Christian Science Monitor, what have you. The point was trying to find out what sources informed her worldview. Unless you think the question was so mindlessly pedantic that it was only referring to print publications. Your point is the one that is moot here. |

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 10:52:57 PM xiquiripat: So was I, What's your point ? The last magazine subscription I had was PC World from 2003, It's not even printed anymore. I'm sure she has read magazines in the past, that doesn't mean she does now. So if you were trying to make a point, like the above, it's pretty much moot. |

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 10:33:07 PM @DMoneys36 Let's see... She believes that occasionally being able to see part of Russia from Alaska counts as foreign relations experience. She abandoned her elected position as Governor to plug books and make a crappy reality TV show, demonstrating a lack of resolve or any sense of responsibility. And stuff like that doesn't even go into her terrible beliefs in regards to equality for US citizens, humane treatment of animals, or environmental conservation. |

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 9:06:55 PM jtrebowski: Considering that magazines, as a medium of communication, are dying because of the internet and the word 'periodicals' is not a word used in normal everyday conversation, I believe most people would have to either look that word up or ask the questioner for a synonym. One of the rules of a good interviewer is to not turn the interview into a vocabulary test, it's just bad form. |
