Then the Palestinians still have politicians that need to be deposed. Because they clearly don't represent their interests.

@Cajun: The PLO is gone, it split up after Arafat went to see Allah. It split mainly into Hamas and Hezbullah, and a few dozen smaller groups.
The problem still is the PLO, the "leadership" the Palestinians embrace.

PS: Arafats 3 wives and several children spent the last 10 years or so living in Paris, France. They had to live on a mere 200K (usd) a month! The horrors! The hardships!

@5Cats and Crakr

Then the PLO is the problem. Israel should encourage the palestinians to depose them rather than causing the palestinians more heartache.

why do i care about this? i'm tired hearing about logical reasons to support war. and in this case, i don't even know who this guy is on, or how much of it is true - because he doesn't sound like an outside party.

Cajun: It's called spoils of war, if the other arab nations hadn't attacked Israel, that land would still be theirs. Egypt is lucky that Israel stopped at the Sinai Canal, they could've destroyed their whole army.

Israel was established by the United Nations in 1948 as a joint Jewish/Arab/Christian region and did not include the West Bank Territory, or the Gaza Strip, or the Sinai penninsula, or the Golan Heights.

@wiscesq: are you high on drugs? It included the whole of "Israel" including those places, except the Golan Heights. Revisionist history indeed!

why not support the presence of UN peace keepers?

@yanj1: Canada is proudly serving that role in the Golan Heights! http://tinyurl.com/bpdohbb

@Cajun: west bank? Oh you mean Judea, eh? See, it's important to get the names correct. Anyhow: The Oslo Accord, which Israel agreed to but the PLO did NOT, gave 98% of the Pali population in the West Bank their own nation. Not good enough for the PLO though! How can you "make peace" with a group like that?

@5Cats

I was referring to the residents of the West Bank. It may not have been officially called Palestine, but the people there have always been Palestinians regardless of who controlled the region. Israel has no right to force them out of the West Bank.

@Chinchilla9

Try looking at where most terrorist organizations are based from and operate unabided. Actually try looking Isreals history and look at who wanted to wipe them off the map from their start.

Palestinians were there before Jordan was.

Exactly! So get rid of the King, re-name it "Palestine" and tah-dah! Problem resolved! (I wish, but it would be a start)

This discussion proves that too many Americans believe the lies they hear on Fox News and CNN. If you support Israel's actions you're either Jewish or completely misinformed. Try getting your news from unbiased (non US) sources and you'll be surprised what you find out.

@AJ

Did I write that?

That was supposed to say

"not a single chemical weapon."

Palestine has picked terrorism and given safe harbor to the leaders time and time again. Cut off all the money we give them and let them rot. I feel no remorse for such a two faced place that's made no effort to change.

The founding of Israel was an invasion. You cant go declaring a new homeland and displacing an existing populace using bronze age religious documents as a justification. Israel is there now, we have to accept that and it's right to exist, but they need to recognise to recognise the rights of the palestinians too. Stop killing them, stop taking more land, allow them to build infrastructure so they dont have to depend on crazy religious figures for leadership and let medical and buolding supplies through.

The Arabs (and Persians and Turks) aren't any better than the Nazis. Israel is the ancient Jewish homeland and has always been inhabited by Jews. Why shouldn't they have the right to defend themselves? The Arab neighboring nations have tried to eliminate them repeatedly.

If Israel has the high ground, and the international mandate, then why not support the presence of UN peace keepers?

"They've given Hezbollah a single chemical weapon." A single one, is one too many.

Sorry, but this is a very misleading video. It is propoganda. Israel was established by the United Nations in 1948 as a joint Jewish/Arab/Christian region and did not include the West Bank Territory, or the Gaza Strip, or the Sinai penninsula, or the Golan Heights. Right after establishment, the Jews fought a war of independence which turned the area of Israel into the current Jewsih state. The boundaries did not include the West Bank. The Arabs, who had recently fought their own wars of independence from the British, attacked Israel. This was motivated at least in part to attack the "Zionist" claim that the Jews had exclusive rights to own the "Holy Land" (a region that is holy to Christians and Muslims as well).

The Jews and Arabs fought major wars in 1956, 1967 and 1973. In each of these wars, the West Banks was occupied by the Israelis. After 1967, they never returned the land to Jordan. It is, in fact, occupied territory.

The fact is, the Palestinian claim to a right of return is based on a historically false story. Somebody ought to have the courage to go all the way back to the 1921 League of Nations mandate for a Jewish homeland, point out the context in which Israel came into existence, and ‘Palestinian’ did not become a common term until after 1977
