It was obvious that the kid was coached by the way he actually spoke to Michelle Bachmann. He had to repeat it several times because he wouldn't speak up. I agree with most comments I've seen, it's terrible to force and coach your child to do this. It looks really bad. This problem has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the issue is homosexuality, I would have just as much problem if the child were being used for any political opinion. It's just wrong.

Does the kid know at least something about this issue? I'm sure he does. Does he understand enough to speak to a political leader and say what he did? Probably not without coaching from his mother. If she had something to say, she should have said it herself.

They both have a point:

1) using the child was absolutely despicable and cowardly and just plain wrong.

2) had the child said "make sure i can afford to go to college" o'reilly wouldn't have poo to say.

Bottom line, that kid was coached, it doesn't help the gay movement, and it was absolutely despicable that the mother forced her kid to do that. having said that, clearly that horrible mother isn't a good indicator of the GLTB community.

Not emotionally equipped?!?!?!? What the drat does that mean?!? I agree, using the child was cowardly, but to insinuate that homosexuality is emotionally traumatizing or disturbing to a child is down right ignorant. Homosexuality is a natural part of life. Love shouldn't know the bounds of your stupid, closed-minded, ethnocentric, cultural view.

Bill took a perfectly valid point and tacked on a bunch of idiotic bull poo that was much better left unsaid.

Kids can be more astute and aware than many people give them credit for. To say this child has no political awareness or understanding what it means to be homosexual without knowing anything about how that child was raised and educated is just naive. Of course, I can understand why Billy O'Reilly could only understand this as coaching - after all, in his mind sexuality is something a parent should never talk with their children about. Oh, but let them watch shows where women are viciously murdered or blood splatters across the floor.

Do you think an 8 year old doesn't understand what a bully is? Do you think they don't understand that mommy is constantly being attacked in popular culture? Do you think that an 8 year old can't understand some people think gay = broken, but that mommy is not broken? Maybe mommy said "that is one of the people that thinks I'm broken" and the child wanted to let her know she wasn't... and hesitated out of nervousness in speaking to a

i don't know how that kid really felt about going up and speaking to mrs bachman, but his mother makes a great point. it's ok for public figures to speak anti-gay rhetoric to anyone who will listen, including impressionable youth. yet if a young person defends his mother to said individual its an act of a heartless mother? some moral priorities need to be adjusted around here.

I rarely agree with Bill O'Reilly about anything...except this time. 8 year old kids aren't worried about politics. The mom should've said her peace herself without using her sonas a mouthpiece. By the same token though, she'd be wasting her breath because Bachman doesn't have a hope in hell of winning.

Nowhere else in the world would you hear a news presenter say "I'm telling you [name], you're dead wrong" to the person they were interviewing. Their job is to present the news in an unbiased and objective way and this is simply outageous behaviour.

Fail OVERWHELMING! I... can barely keep up here.
"Is O'Reilly right I-A-B? "
For starters, what the f*ck kind of question is that?

... I didn't get past 1:30. This Sally Kohn - the look on her face suggests she's being tortured into this interview. Who in their right mind would want to appear on that sad excuse for a show?

Then there's the whole clown show of candidates. What a travesty of a system!

Ya know... whether the kid was told what to say or not, when he grows up he's going to look back on it and be glad he said it.

I think that's what matters.

I agree with Bill. The kid was told what to say. It's obvious. With that said I'm for gay marriage and gay rights but both extremism is bad on both ends. Bible beating republicans and super gays. If you want to be gay and proud that's great, but why rub it in everyone's faces? We don't care that you're gay, it's like using the race card. Some things should just be private. The mother should've said something herself instead of using her kid.

Kid's aren't idiots. The kid probably knows that his mom is different and that people like Michelle Bachman hate her, and the wanted to tell Michelle Bachman to stop. The reason it looks like he's coached is that he's shy and his mom had to coax him into speaking up.

this kid was definitely coached. when i was 8 i didn't know the word gay outside of the song "deck the halls", and even then I didn't know what it meant. Coached.

Bill is just plain wrong. Kids learn to network by the time their in kindergarten and they're very capable of forming their opinions on something.

Say bill 90% of your audience agrees with you?

Not just related to tax, but also related to inheritance, hospital visits, etc, etc

Why not? Those can be guaranteed by private contracts.

Shame kids can't be kids today. If you want to be gay go right ahead. I'm a conservative but I don't get involved in what happens between consenting adults behind closed doors. I just don't agree with adults using children to further their agenda like the woman in the vid was obviously doing. I also don't agree with "Billy Has Two Mommies" and the argument that small children need to be educated about homosexuality. Let the kid be a kid and leave them out of your adult discussion and desire to change the hearts and minds of society.

O'Reilly, rigtht for once. this kid-though well-versed- does not know what sexuality is, never mind homosexuality, which is a perversion, in the merest sense of the word.

I read somewhere when this first happened, not sure where or if it was true, but the mother said her son wanted to say something to Bachmann, but when he got up there he was too shy to say it and that's why it looked coerced.

But moving on, guarenteed if some kid went up to Bachmann saying "you're right, I wouldn't want 2 mommies", O'Reilly would be praising this child for being such a free thinker. And when I was a child, I did know what it meant to be gay, and my parents never mentioned anything about it. It's actually because I went to a catholic elementary school, and our religion books explicitly said that sex should only be between a man and a woman after marriage, and gay people are sinners that need prayed for. True story.

Kids don't know squat about politics, and why should they. I agree with letting kids be kids for as long as can be.

Bill O'Reilly used logic, you can't explain that.
