Thursday, December 08, 2011 10:40:16 PM Mythbusters has always sucked, and considering I've never even seen the show, that's saying a lot. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 3:37:40 PM I don't know how it's possible that a cannonball could have enough momentum to travel that far, rip through a concrete wall, then through a WHOLE HOUSE, off someone's roof, bounce across the road, and through a minivan. WTF did they load that thing with? Uranium? A full size cannonball at 1000fps has about as much kinetic energy as a car travelling at 95 mph. But the force of impact would be over a far smaller area (so far higher pressure) and the ball is far more solid than the car. Numbers, so you can see I'm not just pulling it out of the air: 1000fps = 304.8 m/s Mass of ball = 42 lbs = ~19Kg. KE of ball = ~880 KJ 95mph = ~42.5 m/s Mass of car = 1000Kg KE of car = ~900 KJ. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 3:10:45 PM traveling at 1000f/ps a 2kg cannon ball would weigh 600kg.. kg is a unit of mass, not weight. So what did you actually mean? 1000fps is nowhere near close enough for relatavistic effects to be of any relevance, so the 2Kg ball will still have a mass of 2Kg. The equivalent of a 600Kg ball dropped 1m in average Earth gravity, maybe? |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 1:42:07 PM You can't get rid of MythBusters! You already took away NASA, what else will keep the generations to come interested in science? |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 8:06:27 AM Then try breaking it over your head!! A real sheet not tiny strips. Cannon balls were used to destroy castles too so it would go through houses anywhere. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 6:26:29 AM plywood?!?! that stuff is easy to break. you know they used cannon balls to sink ships? traveling at 1000f/ps a 2kg cannon ball would weigh 600kg.. houses made out of bits of sheet board wouldnt stand a chance, hense why it happened... |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 5:34:50 AM @Steelgrid U MAD BRO?!?!?! Yes but they also have these things called firing ranges that use the power of angles to stop projectiles with burms. Notice I said firing range not bomb sounds like there's differences otherwise they wouldn't have had to rely on water barrels and a wall to stop it. @JoeYC Try breaking plywood over your head. Also, video tape it. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 3:47:56 AM The ball was traveling around 1000 feet per second. american houses are made from cardboard lol. it would go though. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 2:47:42 AM @5Cats, there was most likely some sort of controlled demolition also. Walls don't just have holes in them like that, there had to be some sort of weakening of the structure beforehand. |

Thursday, December 08, 2011 2:04:28 AM science show... not so much. More like "blowing and shooting stuff up show". If someone were hit by that cannonball they would be transformed into a pulp. Dont need muthbusters to figure that out! |

Wednesday, December 07, 2011 7:23:58 PM @Angilion - in addition to their use against castles, they were used on the battlefield against enemy troops/cavalry. Just point in the direction of said enemy, fire, and the skipping cannonball plowed down (killing, maiming) everything in its path. This actually turned out better than expected for the Mythbusters people...nobody was hurt or worse. |

Wednesday, December 07, 2011 6:56:44 PM "And that was just the first house it struck." "This myth was supposed to discover whether other materials shot out of a cannon would be just as effective as a cannon ball" Oh... My... Godzilla |

Wednesday, December 07, 2011 6:30:21 PM @Steelgrid Don't be butthurt I like Mythbusters too. If I myself were to test a high powered cannon though I'd go to say a big desert and shoot it as far as I want there just a thought.... First off you stupid fvuck, its not about wiether or not I like the show. Its about dumbasses like yourself placing blame where it doesnt belong. Also, LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF THE BOMB RANGE!!!!! its huge. They had preparations for it. A fence, and concrete wall, AND water barrels. It is a huge bomb range. but guess what, BOMBRANGES END!!!! They dont last for-fvucking-ever. They do in fact stop somewhere, this side happens to stop by a neighborhood. Again I tell you to pay attention and realize that is is a CIRCUMSTANCE. Un avoidable. They fired from one end, the 2 previous shots worked just fine. The third shot simply misfired. |
