The government only started issueing marriage licenses in the early part of the 20th century. Counties saw it as a way to raise funds on a one-time fee. I'm sure I can speek for the entire Gay Community when we say we will pay the exact same fee as straight people. Equal is equal after all. |

There was a time when black people weren't legally allowed to marry white people. The 1967 Supreme Court decision (although many states had already rescinded it) set that rule as federal law. From that point on (really America? 1967? F*ck me.) black people were allowed to marry white people, by federal mandate.
Now, at what point in your logic, cptbeech, do you say that human rights have been fulfilled, and that from here on in, tough sh*t, you homos? |

Marriage in the U.S. was intended for a man and a woman. If you want to get married then change the law. IF YOU FAIL at changing the law then TOUGH. If an idiot like this gets elected, I will do everything in my power to leave this country and never return.
There's a reason I decided to relocate my family from Europe to Canada a couple of years ago. Canada's got everything America has going for it: the wide open spaces, the... no, wait, that's the only one I can think of.
But the point was, Canada is basically America but without the religious crazy bastards. |

Actually, it was designed between a man and a woman and another woman and another woman and etc. for the purpose of the man having clear title and grant to own/control all of her properties or future inheritances. Marriage declared her HIS property.
Now, again I don't mind your opinion...just get your facts in line so you don't come acrossed as some thick headed git striking out mindlessly at others to overcome some internal issues. I'm not saying you are that, just don't want you to appear that way, it's not flatering. |
