Do you think he had any choice to be openly gay when he was young? Do you think he could have been a cop {let alone Sherrif} if it was known? And once you have a family and career, standing in a community, what's the point of coming out? Why destroy the family, hurt the people you love, alienate your community ? What is gained by coming out that late in life?
