A poker game among friends is legal as long as only the players profit from it. If you host a game and take a cut from all the players winnings as the "house" it's illegal.

It's not illegal, in most places, to have a game of poker for money, as long as the "house" doesn't take a cut. In other words, if I host a poker party, and everyone pays in $20, but only gets $19 in chips, and I keep the $1, that's illegal. If everyone pays in $20, and gets $20, and the winners take home their winnings, that's legal. In most places. |

Even rich people are allowed to be bored to death. He is just breaking a daily routine playing some poker. There's nothing immoral in that, it's his hard earned money and Jordan can do whatever he wants with it.

I consider gambling morally sinful, but I'm not going to judge him. Besides there are so many places, besides Vegas and Atlantic City, these days where gambling is perfectly legal that it's rarely ever policed or prosecuted. |
