My mom said back in the 70's you would see 5 or so patrol cars in the winchells doughnut shop at any given time. My guess on the whole myth is these days cops are monitored much more therefore they have less free time to get and eat doughnuts. If I were a cop I would make that stereotype completely true thats my food of choice;D |

I've lived about 3 blocks from a donut shop for about 3 years. In that time, I have NEVER seen a police car in front of the shop, regardless of the time of day that I've driven by.
I think the older officer's explanation is probably valid. If you're a cop, you probably are looking for a place to take a break at 4-5am. Donut shops were probably one of the few (if not only) places open at that time, years ago; today, many places are open 24-7 (at least in big cities). |
