Thursday, December 01, 2011 1:38:05 PM adhd - does not exist, it's a way to sell drugs. because he was" diagnosed, they are using that as an excuse like he didn't know any better, which bugs me. he's hyper in school, so they got a cop to single him out - which makes no sense at all. he responded correctly, he's a stranger, he attacked the stranger. not sure why they had to cuff even his legs, and to a hospital? there's a history here we are not hearing about. |

blah blah blah. Teachers & Parents blah blah blah I think the point was that the efforts of Teachers and Parents had failed and the kid was out of control. A danger to other kids. A danger to himself if left alone and unrestrained. Sometimes, handcuffs are not a punishment, they are a means to restrain you and prevent further shenanigans. I'm sure the cop tried all the less extreme things before he said "I don't have all freaking day to deal with one out of control kid no matter the reason he's out of control". |

Monday, November 28, 2011 6:56:09 AM You can't even charge a 5-year old with anything as far as I know. Doesn't the charge transfer to the parents/guardians in cases like this? |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 9:13:00 PM Its not the child's fault that he has ADHD, I myself have it, and until he can learn to control his actions, his parents and teachers are there to help and guide him. The policemen did wrong by over reacting, when Michael pushed his hand away, that should have been warning enough that he was not comfortable in the policemen touching him. There was no need for zip ties or the trip to the hospital. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 2:53:17 PM My Dad taught me that when the cop says "Do this " you do it and say "Yes Sir". Saves a whole lotta trouble. You people seem to think it is some kind of cool to disrespect authority by whining and being a public nuisance. That just ain't cool people. It is no wonder cops go bad or burn out early. Later they get to pick your shattered body out of the ditch when you drink/drug and drive. Now our kids are trying to be 'mercan by rioting at hockey games. F#0k me people are stupid these days. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 12:16:31 PM Without knowing the context or the circumstances, It's pretty easy for us this sit here and play the blame game. I'm not saying it's the ADHD, but who knows what other problems this kid has. Could be the mom, could be the school system, could be the teacher he has...who knows? Ultimately the cop was a dick. Surprised he didn't tase him. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 8:22:33 AM ADHD...Blah, blah blah. I had it as a kid. It made it hard for me to focus on what the teacher was teaching, especially in a "lecture" scenario. In no way shape or form is it an excuse for bad behaviour. That, IMO is the fault of bad parenting. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 7:10:10 AM bex753 -- if it does go to court, it won't be to bring the child up on criminal charges, it will most likely be to place the child in a Emotional/Behavioral unit at school; and/or psychological treatment. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 7:06:52 AM Oh and Spaztazoid, I am not sure if I suffer from narcissism, or if I am just surrounded by idiots. Lol. I kid of course. I may be a bit pretentious, but what I am seeing in practice, forums, and other outlets is parents blaming ADHD for all sorts of problems. ADHD basically means your child is hyper and has trouble paying attention. It doesn't mean they have mood disturbances or violent tendencies. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 7:01:39 AM @Spaztazoid -- the mom didn't seem to know about a near crisis her child had at school that resulted in him being cuffed with cable ties for two weeks. No judgement there, just how is she that uninvolved? It just seems that she wants to blame her child's problems on ADHD and the school. That seems to be the most contributing factor to me. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 2:15:40 AM Sounds to me like the officer should be charged with assault, and possibly child molestation. He touched the child without any reason. No stranger should lay a hand on a child. |

Saturday, November 26, 2011 11:21:51 PM Wow elkingo, way to judge this family from a 3 minute video...I'm curious, does it say anything about insecure yet pretentious "not quite there yet" psychologist in the DSM? |
