Monday, November 28, 2011 7:48:32 PM Whether you believe in the issue or not, I do remember that the State of California used to allow you to return a drivers license, or car license plate, free of charge if it contained any letter/number combination that equated to 666, based on religious objection. I no longer live in Cali, so I have no idea if this still holds. I know this, because my first learners permit had that number combination in it, and my mother made the DMV issue me a new number. Also, the US Social Security Administration will never allocate a SS# that starts with '666'. I also recall that, in addition to skipping the number 13 when numbering floors, larger hotels in some countries skip over the number 666. @Idlerlee2: It's the European Parliament, not the United Nations. There are currently 193 member states/nations in the United Nations. |

Sunday, November 27, 2011 7:08:31 AM this whole thing is dumb ok i can see why 666 would offend him, i wouldn't want to wear the sticker because what the hell difference does it make, is it a reminder of the tragedy 666 days ago? i would have an accident just to reset that number and i bet i would be fired for that too. i'm an atheist and i find the whole firing unusual. i would bet that this person was a bible thumper and annoyed everyone so much that they were looking for a good reason to get rid of him but couldn't do it because of that. the sticker was the excuse, though a real pathetic one at that, and i would sue them also. the world is just nuts. |

Saturday, November 26, 2011 5:02:08 PM I have the same issues with the number 43. My god, whose name is Nigel (he doesn't like god being spelled with a capital g) told me it's an evil number. I had to change my phone number because of it as that ended in 43. |

Saturday, November 26, 2011 4:00:45 PM Heres a fun fact: The seat no. 666 in the United Nations is empty for this spesific reason. If its good enough for the forum that rules the civilized world, its good enough for a crappy company |

Saturday, November 26, 2011 7:10:48 AM If he has a bona fide religious belief which prevents him from doing something which is part of his job, he should find a job that doesn't require he do something he finds objectionable. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 10:17:33 PM Ironically, shortly after firing the guy, a pallet of "safety stickers" fell on the boss, and the next day, all employees were wearing the number "1". |

Friday, November 25, 2011 12:23:49 PM Did he also refuse to work alongside women in pants? After all, the Bible states 'woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man.' If he didn't, then he is selective in what tresspasses of biblical teachings offends him. Does anyone choose what they are going to be offended by? He has strong religious convictions. I don't think it matters where he got them. If it was a cartoon he got out of a crackerjack box (no pun intended) and he felt that pious about it then his feelings should still be respected...and later made fun of. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 11:46:12 AM lordastral-"actually the bible specifically states the number 666 in revelations." It says '666' is the number of the beast. I don't recall any passage that states 'Thou shalt not wear a stick that sayeth '666'.'. Did he also refuse to work alongside women in pants? After all, the Bible states 'woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man.' If he didn't, then he is selective in what tresspasses of biblical teachings offends him. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 10:44:14 AM OK, it's a silly ill-informed superstition and I'm generally the first to argue that your religious beliefs should not entitle you to one jot of extra privilege. But one day without a sticker? If he were insisting on flaunting some kind of symbol or 'message' then that would be different. Unless there is something more behind this then this is one atheist who thinks the christian nut-job has had a raw deal. Is this company by any chance a subsidiary of Wolfram and Hart? |

Friday, November 25, 2011 10:05:31 AM I want to know if that was the day their safety streak ended or not. If it did he has a case, if not he doesn't. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 7:46:28 AM "When you join a company, in Virginia at least, you have to sign an agreement that they can terminate you at any time with little or no provocation." And for that exact same reason there are many in PA with no job. "At will" employers are a problem not a solution. You could be fired just because your boss is having a bad day what kind of BS is that? And no I am not going to say how great a union is because it goes to far the other way. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 7:21:33 AM Oh please, it's just a number. People should stop believing in magic. Society should not accomodate to crazy paranoid beliefs. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 6:19:48 AM There must be something more to this story. To be fired over something so trivial is absurd, no company would risk a wrongful dismissal lawsuit over such a silly reason. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 6:17:49 AM You can see her imagining him in a leopard skin g-string for at least a few seconds. It's not a bona fide religious belief. It's superstition. There is no factual difference. "Isn't there debate as to whether it's 666 or 616?" Yes. it was 616, but became 666 after a typo. |

Friday, November 25, 2011 3:28:28 AM @Frankii, there isn't a debate, its purely a translation issue. If you translate the passage from Hebrew the math says its 666, if you translate it from greek, the math says 616. And both of them are just as ridiculous as the other. |
