Thursday, November 24, 2011 8:15:10 PM Well, then... if they made the jew dog a boston terrior would that be ironic? Being a jew, the nose is very important... My daughter is beautiful, but you can't deny her nose it's... place. So why is this anti semitic...? Is it because they are dogs? or is it because they used the dog with the long nose for the jew? Honestly.... so long as there are dogs in ads, i suppose the one with the longer nose is the only one that would work. It's only a symbolic representation... and it's kinda cute. Sometimes not being a tight-ass allows one to enjoy schit without getting pissy every five minutes.... weed helps with both, especially around pms time. Lucky for every one who is not me. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 5:17:22 PM I'm Jewish and I admit that I'm pretty cheap. (You have to be on a college budget, but I'm really bad.) I make fun of myself all the time for being a cheap Jew. But when somebody else does it, it's really irritating. I can't say what the difference is, but it's probably similar to African Americans using the word n****r but getting offended when somebody else says it. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 4:23:58 PM Honestly, I once used the term "Call a spade a spade" and was called a racist. There are 3 sources for that phrase: shovel names, the card game bridge and the old racist one, eh? No. Not unless you're arguing that time travel is common enough to have affected the language. You can't have a phrase older than the thing claimed as the source of the phrase. In that case, the claim is wrong. It is not and cannot be the source. There is still no excuse for the blatent anti-semitism expressed in the advert, we can agree on that @Angilion? Yes. And for the record: I play Brigde AND know the difference between a shovel and a spade, so there! Does that mean you're secretly English? :) Now I have to look up the difference between a spade and a shovel. I didn't know there was one. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 3:55:50 PM *shhh* @Angilion! I'm talking to Americans here! Honestly, I once used the term "Call a spade a spade" and was called a racist. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 3:30:16 PM If one used the term "N*ggardly" which used to be common, would that be OK with you @Buiadh? Lets see: Niggardly It would be OK with me, because I'm not an ignorant fool desperate to be offended who can't be bothered to check anything. 'Niggardly' comes from the Middle English word 'niggard', meaning 'miser', which comes from the Middle English word 'nig', meaning 'chip away, chisel', which comes from an Old Norse word I can't pronounce or remember. 30s with a decent dictionary would have told you that. Are you offended by words such as 'luck', 'duck', 'punt', etc, etc? |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 3:09:19 PM Yup! Anti-semetic for sure. The Christians are getting a compliment: "Christmas Quality" implies GOOD quality, only the best for Christmas eh? Jews are CHEAP is the other half of the message, and yes it's an old anti-semetic stereotype. If one used the term "N*ggardly" which used to be common, would that be OK with you @Buiadh? Lets see: Niggardly |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 2:33:15 PM No, just funny! I hate it when Jews bitch about Jewish jokes when they make them too. I have Jewish heritage on my mom's side and they always joke about it. But some of my Jewish friends, who I've heard make similar jokes, complain when I do it. They can stick their dreidel. |
