Thursday, November 24, 2011 6:34:10 PM Lighten up, people, it's just William Shatner. Anyway, the kind of idiot who would fry a whole turkey is the kind of idiot who would blow himself up. |

Thursday, November 24, 2011 10:07:35 AM If a body (or turkey), is suspended in a fluid, then the upthrust, or apparent loss in weight, is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced. Archimedes burned his house down doing this. That's why he came up with his principle. |

Thursday, November 24, 2011 6:31:57 AM @Gerry1of1 That's what my dad said as well, peanut oil only. He also said he won't do it often cause the oil costs more than the turkey. Was kinda hoping they would tell you what to do and not to do, but what do you expect from Shatner, all he cares about is face time. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 8:58:52 PM DJL, I think you won the point on that one from Buidah... Seriously though - the best I have seen on deep-frying turkey was Alton Brown's Good Eats: Thanksgiving Edition - he did an entire show on the process of deep-frying turkey safely and perfectly every time. Check it out... |

@ thestringy - It is the most deliscious, moist turkey ever! But you have to use peanut oil ONLY. And make sure there is no water, dry the cavity so it doesn't boil over. Also, it cooks quick when deep fried....mmmmmm turkey! You're gonna love it. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 10:55:26 AM The most interesting thing for me has to be the concept of deep frying an entire turkey. I think I might have to try this, though probably with a smaller bird. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 9:58:55 AM I love it. Entertaining and causes you to remember how dangerous anything frozen being thrown in oil is. I once made a fireball erupt from a pot of oil so big it hit the ceiling and rolled out about 2 feet. Since I am fearless and full of common sense I simply tossed the lid on it and chuckled but it would be easy to forget how easy a fire can be put out if you are unable to remain calm. You really don't have time to sit and think about it much even if you are still calm lol. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 9:12:34 AM I've only had fried turkey once, but it was pretty darn tasty. Worth the 20 minutes or so of terror I felt while my husband cooked it. Just don't forget the dingle-dangle ;) |
