Thursday, November 24, 2011 6:42:38 PM hahahahahahhahahahaha oh... Republicans.... How do they even still exist as a political party? It's amazing that America has some of the most brilliant and creative people, and then there are the Republicans. |

Thursday, November 24, 2011 10:44:36 AM The best thing about getting kids to work is that the mine shafts can be made smaller and that means less cost to the mining industry...Mr. Gingrich forgot to mention that positive thing... |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 10:37:23 PM I'll bet he is racist, wants to starve the children after working them, and wants to kick their grandmothers out into the street too!

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 3:52:01 PM @AJ: Thanks for the response. Sorry for the late reply. I've been suffering IAB fatigue lately. Hope you and and your family have a good Thanksgiving. Re: the *Dreams from My Father* quote, I think what's being revealed is a person who has a fierce desire to be liked and accepted. That personality trait, coupled with his being half-black, made him particularly vulnerable to the charge of being a "sell-out"--mainly, because the charge was true. To deflect that charge, he briefly hung out with the "cool" anti-establishment stock characters on the college campus. It was a calculated, political move for expediency--and not all that different from what he did with progressives and liberals years later with his "Hope" and "Change" campaign. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 12:08:34 PM The party that's working tirelessly to protect "job-creators" from tax increase or even tax reform suggesting that we fire working adults and replace them with cheaper child labor. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 7:37:27 AM Oh cool, are we all going to get a little black house boy to polish our floors? Think of the money we'd save on electricity. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 7:04:19 AM LOL, just try telling high school kids they have to clean up the school. Not to mention potential lawsuits that would inevitably result from misuse or even proper use of janitorial equipment. Who is going to provide insurance for a student that gets injured using a floor waxer or some-such? Not Newt, that's for sure. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 12:35:51 AM It's not the kids fault that they are poor. Newt is a huge ass hole. |

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 12:08:27 AM I don't necessarily disagree with Newt on this as long as it is a CHOICE to work and there's nothing coercive about it. But like MCMXCIII said: what can be abused probably will. |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 10:01:06 PM I started working to earn my own money at age 12, mowing lawns, raking leaves, painting, moving furniture. Of course it wasn't full-time everyday and I don't expect that Gingrich is advocating full-time work for kids, but kids should learn that hard work both pays and empowers them. |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 8:28:59 PM I'm amazed at the parade of blowhards that earn TV airtime as contenders of the republican nomination who then bloviate nonsense that will never become reality because none of them will ever be president. |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 8:11:23 PM I think it's a fairly decent idea. Except the students should be rotated daily/weekly/monthly so they all have to clean the school instead of just a few. |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 7:42:05 PM Bear in mind that what can be abused will be abused. There are parents who are willing to sell their children for some drugs, and there are companies that have no problem taking in said children for greater benefits. Child labor laws are necessary measures to prevent such tragic from happening. |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 6:40:17 PM Hey Squirlz! "To avoid being mistaken for a sellout,I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night,in the dorms,we discussed neocolonialism,Franz Fanon,Eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake,we were resisting bourgeois society's stifling constraints. We weren't indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated." - Barack Obama |

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 6:27:19 PM so we should fire the current janitors that have responsibilities (like food and bills and families and houses), hire kids, apparently younger then 15, to work with hazardous chemicals and repair buildings, plumbing, and electricity that they have no idea how to. They are to do all this instead of studying to move up in the world. |
