I've worked in many restaurants through the years. I have a degree, and 80% of the people I've worked with in restaurants do too. They don't keep doing it over other job offers, because there just aren't enough offers. Every job wants experience but no one will hire people to give them that experience. Restaurants always need people to wait on your lazy ass for you to not tip. You should be ashamed of yourself for spewing such ignorant nonsense. Probably a teenager who frequents Perkins all night, makes a mess and leaves no tip. |

if you can't afford to tip at all, don't eat at a restaurant. you should be eating at home with food bought from the cheapest store in your area.. if you're so hard up. |

Here is a tip - get an education and you might not have to wait tables, also, my brother was a very good waiter and he made more than I did in the factory . . . but he had to hustle for it! Not many folks can afford to tip these days get used to it! |

Imagine a world where everyone earned tips. I'd love it - I'd get my iCrap at cost and say "gee, I'd like to pay more, but, y'know, the service on it really isn't that great... so I'm gonna skip it." Or "thanks for fixing up my car so I can get to work - and those new wiper blades and an oil filter was a good recommendation. $285 in parts? Oh, I only budgeted $300 for the repair, so here's $15 for all the time you put into it. Really great job."
Serving sucks. If we could actually choose to ignore those customers who are regulars and don't tip (or try to walk out on their bill), or if the boss didn't say "you make your own pay raise" - then every time we increase business they hire a new crappy server to take away our income - then I might not think it sucked so bad.
What burns the most about getting stiffed? That $2.33 basically covers all the crap cleaning work you have to do - so the person basically told you you should work for |

That's base pay. Then you add on tips. Most Americans prefer it this way. Waiters still get their money and customers get better service. It's considered extremely rude and offensive to not leave a tip. |

American food outlets must be assh*les, why not just pay a decent fuc*ing wage? Tips should be given only if the service you receive is of a high standard as is the case here in the UK. |

If it is tip based, they can pay you whatever the drat they want, HOWEVER! If per hour you make less than minimum wage with tips, they have to bring it up to at least minimum wage. |

If a business lets its employees accept tips, it doesn't need to pay minimum wage. Therefore, if it pays better than minimum wage, it won't let you accept tips typically. |
