Tuesday, November 22, 2011 9:57:11 PM This is what the occupy movement is partly about. Corporations paying lobbyist to affect regulations and polluting our lives. Profit over everything else. Bastards. Still getting away with it! |

Sunday, November 20, 2011 5:27:12 AM O_o That's like saying OJ is a fruit because it's got oranges in it. If the lobbyists weren't so far up the USDA's backside, maybe they'd actually give a damn about appropriate childhood nutrition & realise this kind of crap only escalates adult onset diabetes, heart disease, & other obesity-related illness. And helps set up poor life long nutritional habits in the population. Oh...that's right...short term monetary gain is the be all & end all. My bad. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 10:39:33 PM @KryptCeeper The legislation passed is about a portion of pizza that isn't topped with veggies being considered to contain a serving of vegetables because of the tiny amount of sauce it has regardless of WHAT that sauce really contains AND the fact that it's such a tiny amount of *possibly* tomato. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 10:07:56 PM probably been said a dozen times or two but this article is not about if pizza is a vegetable. its about if the pizza SAUCE is considered a vegetable. so no pizza is no more a vegetable then apple pie is a fruit. which its not btw. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 9:50:22 PM Misleading title is misleading. There was no mention of bacon in the article. A lack of bacon = a lack of interest. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 3:39:46 PM Let's do one solid for the kids and let them enjoy their school lunch pizzas before they grow up to find the government taking everything else away from them as well. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 12:19:46 PM There is a large difference between "pizza is a vegetable", and "pizza has a serving of vegetables". There is a problem here with this situation...and it has nothing to do with pizza itself, it has everything to do with what the definition of "serving" means in the English language. In fact, that's why the food pyramid was redesigned in the first place. As opposed to guesstimate amounts of grains, meat, fruits, and veggies; we now have specific amounts that help accomplish a balanced diet. So in the question of, "does pizza have a serving of vegetables", we must ask ourselves, does 2 tablespoons = one serving? Honestly not in my opinion. You'd need about 20 servings of that to make your mark for vegetables for the day. It is a bit of a stretch to be honest. However pizza isn't all that harmful for you if cooked properly. Heck a thin crust pizza with vegetables and chicken would make for a balanced meal. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 12:14:50 PM i love pizza, and i admit to having my fair share of junk, but pizza sauce is made from vegetables not in itself a vegetable. heck tomatoes technically aren't vegetables either. they're berries, a fruit. this just proves that congress, our leaders are a bunch of morons! |

@ jtrebowski, I'll give you a 3rd option...I'm right. When I was a kid no one worried about french fries full of trans fats, and potato chips were cooked in lard. My generation is thinner than the one they have now. Obviously, the government cannot regulate weight. It's about parenting and teaching kids not to eat at McDonalds every day. If that's your definition of "trolling" then yes, I'm a troll. But there is nothing that says a troll can't be right.

Saturday, November 19, 2011 11:11:55 AM " ...and thanks to food companies’ lobbying efforts — to the tune of $5.6 million — a couple tablespoons of tomato sauce are still safe and sound as vegetables." Go drating figure, business controlling everything, including our health. Who would have known??? |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 10:11:38 AM "Your tax dollars at work doing nothing. Have you notice that, with gov'ment legislation/regulation, the healthier food gets that fatter children get. I say feed the bastards on a steady diet of bacon, gummie bears, and lard. They'll slim down in no time." Gerry, I can't tell if you're trolling, or just plain stupid. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 9:12:04 AM It doesn't at all say that pizza is a vegetable....it says the SAUCE is, and even points out that it's kind of bad logic to use that to justify pizza as healthy. The sauce itself, if it's just a nice simple pure tomato sauce, is in fact healthy and counts as a serving of veggies. Therefore, I think is a boring post. |

Saturday, November 19, 2011 8:42:58 AM You think they would count poutine as a vegetable? It has potatoes! Potatoes really aren't the best vegetable, full of HDCs. |
