It's actually safer for the fighters to NOT wear boxing gloves. Sure, there might be a few more broken hands/fingers, but there's also a LOT less serious head and brain injuries. |

Old man doesn't know how to fight it would seem. It's called grappling, it's where most real fights end up anyways, on the ground.
By real I don't mean professional, though they tend to go that way as well. His generation is well on the way out so I don't think anyone is agreeing with him. |

I wonder if that old guy is aware of the fact that James Toney (who was the NABO and IBA heavyweight champion at the time) fought Randy Coutoure. It didn't end well for Toney. Coutoure beat his face for a couple minutes then choked him out. I'm pretty sure the fight didn't last more than four minutes. |

Wrestling is not gay, neither is football (yet the QB has his hand on the centers ass and nutsack) and they tackle each other..baseball players smack each other on the ass...if you are an idiot you can find homosexuality in everything, but it does not make it so. No, that is not the problem. The problem is Boxing doesn't FORCE the fight the public wants to see. Same reason I can't get behind BCS football. Why should LSU "risk" playing against undefeated Boise when they don't have to? Because the public wants to see it? Not good enough for the BCS. NFL, they'd be forced to. UFC, Nick Diaz (Who could obviously destroy anyone on these forums) is just as much a vagina as Mayweather, but the public wants to see him get destroyed, so White is FORCING him to fight GSP.
Something Boxing refuses to do, which is how they lose their fans. We want "this" but no one in Boxing/College Football are forced into anything they don't want to do. |

Boxing is a dying sport, much like Baseball.
Of course, MMA wouldn't be anywhere near the state it is at if it weren't for Dana White contracting fighter's as, essentially, the "commissioner" of UFC. Boxing REALLY should've done this decades ago. Pacquiao V Mayweather "will they/won't they" is a bore to actual enthusiasts. White would've settled that years ago. |

Bob Arum is a dinosaur, he should realize his time is up and shut his stupid f*cking mouth. MMA is the only true form of complete combat sport. Boxing is a punching contest. I've been a huge fan of the sport since about 96, I've seen every fight in UFC and Pride history and I'm very excited for this weekend and what it means for the sport.
@cobrakiller "Who would win in a fight; Paquio or St. Pierre? Depends on what kind of fight."
If it was a REAL fight, no referees, no rule set, GSP would utterly destroy Pacman. I'm a big fan of Pacquiao but there is no chance he could stop GSP's shot and even on the feet he would have trouble due to Georges's Kyokushin style.
As a fellow martial artist I'm sure you can agree with that. |
