The chicken pox virus is much more evolved than what most people realise. It takes control of the host's and it will later attempt to reproduce itself by using the host's children as new vessels.
There are several other parasites or viruses that use other beings as intermediate hosts and controls, like the green-banded broodsac. |

We don't vaccinate against it over here. We probably should though. But yeah, I've heard of these things, they were (are?) not uncommon here as a way of immunising against it while you're young. |

Then I guess my own mother is guilty of this! My sister and I went through our childhood NEVER getting chicken pox. Finally my sister came home with them one day when she was 15 and I was 12. My mom didn't want me to get it as an adult since it's worse so she was like "Go play with your sister!!" and basically told me to get Chicken Pox FROM her so I could get it over with. (I did end up getting them too...on my 13th BIRTHDAY which was a week later!) So my mom had a "Pox Party" in our own house that year! |

I didn't realise there was a vaccine for chicken pox, pretty much everyone gets chicken pox when they're little and you want to hope you do really, it just gets worse when you're older |

WOW!!! That is freaking gross..disease through the freaking mail!!!!! Why are these tards not getting their children vaccinated by licensed professionals??? I heard part of the reason is the whole autism scare...hell I dont know, why people do the crap that they do, and should know better..but for some reason prove other wise..

I for one will be sending my kids to play with others who have chicken pox in the hope that they contract it so that when they are older, it will not turn into something serious.
Why would you try to get your children infected with the disease at full strength when your government will infect them for free with a weakened version that will immunise them in the same way with far less risk of suffering? That's what the chickenpox vaccination is and it's free at 18 months in Australia.
I got chickenpox and wasn't actually ill at all, but some children are really rather ill with it. Maybe yours would be. So why do that rather than having them infected in a controlled way with a weakened virus that will make them immune but not ill? |

Some people just fail to grasp the nature of evidence. The whole anti-vac thing is based on the same stupidity as creationists, truthers, birthers, climate change deniers and homophobes.
It's not quite that bad. Mercury is toxic and you can get ill from a live vaccination, so it's not as completely ridiculous as those other things.
However, the minute risks from vaccination are vastly outweighed by the risks from a full-blown infection. So it's obviously stupid and dangerous to increase the risk to your children by not vaccinating them, let alone deliberately infecting them.
Anyone opposed to vaccinations should watch a child with whooping cough. I'd tape their eyes open, strap their hands to their sides so they can't block their hearing and make them see and hear everything.
Then I'd take them to some graves of people who died because they weren't vaccinated. And leave them there. |

Wrong. I had chicken pox as a young child and I didn't even feel ill. I looked bad, but I felt fine.

Also wrong. I know a few people who got chicken pox as adults (from their kids). They're not dead.
Any doctor will recommend that you get your tot as close to a chicken pox infected kid as possible so they won't die of it later.
Wrong again, on both counts. Doctors generally recommend vaccinations because doctors generally understand medical issues. Although the vaccine for chicken pox isn't recommended here in the UK, it should be. |

Jail them all. Deliberately spreading potentially deadly diseases *through the post* should be highly illegal (and probably is). They don't know or care who will be infected. It doesn't even matter that they're doing it for bad reasons - it would be wrong to do it that way even if the reasons were good (which they aren't). |

Yes, but meeting a kid of a family that you know to get your kid chicken pox is one end of the spectrum, whereas sending measles and smallpox in the mail (potentially infecting people with these on the way) and letting your kid exchange body fluids from a complete stranger's kid.. which possibly has other diseases floating around in it...? That being said, isn't that how people immunized their kids against chicken pox? When you're young, don't your parents either give you the chicken pox vaccine or take you to a kid who is infected? |
