Wednesday, November 02, 2011 11:15:13 PM Aluminum doesn't. Right, and aluminum oxide is created by pixies casting magic spells in the mushroom forest. |

Wednesday, November 02, 2011 6:01:13 PM This is a good example of why there are real pilots up front as well as an autopilot. It's more about skill than balls, though. Bravery isn't going to land the plane. Getting it down and stopped in what looked like a safe, smooth landing takes shiploads of skill. |

Tuesday, November 01, 2011 8:34:09 PM Most people expect a spray of sparks just as seen in the movies. But aluminum is the primary metal used in building airplanes, and aluminum doesn't create sparks. Actually, aluminum does create sparks, albeit not nearly as much as steel. If this had been at night, and if the runway had not been covered with fire retardant foam, you would have seen some sparks. |

Tuesday, November 01, 2011 6:45:07 PM Jets have landing gear, a collective term for struts, wheels, and tires. But not gears. And especially not gears and wheels. |

Tuesday, November 01, 2011 6:35:34 PM It would take more balls if the pilot decided to just keep flying |
