Sunday, November 06, 2011 1:44:16 AM Here is the cure...you warm up a little olive oil in a pan till it is almost hot (not too hot because you do NOT want to burn your ear)then you tip your head to the side and pour it in...wait a few minutes while the critter drowns (or cooks). When it curls up and dies tip your head gently the other way and it should literally fall out. As the oil is slippery the bug should slip out easily. |

Sunday, October 30, 2011 4:39:15 PM Thats why they call them earwigs. Also, arent you supposed to have some wax in your ear to protect your eardrum? |

Sunday, October 30, 2011 3:57:54 PM obviously that was supposed to say c*ckroach, not roosterroach. And the coughing thing happens because all the nerves in that area are close together, and when the roach struggles it tickles the vagus nerve, which is responsible partly for coughing. |

Sunday, October 30, 2011 3:56:04 PM Whoever's removing it is a friggin' idiot. I work in NYC and this happens all the time... when you go in there with forceps you at the least risk ending up in a wrestling match with a roosterroach right against somebody's eardrum, and at worse you risk perforating the eardrum and shoving pieces of dismembered roosterroach inside. What you do is fill the eardrum with oil (preferable), which drowns the roosterroach and causes it to float to the top (or you can flush it out or remove its unresisting corpse with forceps) or else with lidocaine, which kills the roosterroach instantly but is painful to the roosterroach and makes it struggle for a second. The point is that you want to kill the little f*cker in such a way that it doesn't resist and then wash it out. One interesting point: When people get roosterroaches stuck in their ears, they frequently don't come in because they can't hear/hear scratching noises, but because they can't stop coughing. All th |
