Thursday, October 27, 2011 12:43:30 PM I know, but we don't care about Migrant workers. They are fine because they are legal. Calling them migrant workers is a ploy to make the people who support lawful citizenship look evil. I am from Alabama, and this law rocks. We have JOBS HERE and our unemployment rate is dropping daily. |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 12:28:57 PM @auburnjunky A migrant worker is someone who moves from area to area as the seasons shift in order to do whatever seasonal work they can get, especially work in agriculture. An illegal immigrant is someone who living in this country unlawfully. Currently, most migrant workers are illegal immigrants, but not all. The terms mean two different things. |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 11:15:06 AM Farmers are hurting for farm workers. Americans are hurting for jobs. What to do, What to do... Oh, Americans don't want those jobs? Better go protest about there not being enough jobs (that we want to do, of course) Cause no one should have to do a job they dislike... |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 10:18:25 AM If you can't get an American to do it, try... oh... I don't know... offering more money and allow people to pick at a less stressful pace? No? Better to just get immigrants back in the field, because they'll let you screw them over? I see. |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 10:13:40 AM There aren't workers? Or there aren't workers willing to work for the wages the farmers are offering? Lets see I seem to recall a bunch of people in New York that seem to need work... |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 9:53:30 AM FDR ran illegals off as one of the measures to end the great depression. He did it because they were competing with Americans for low paying jobs. MeGrendel and Gerry - right

Thursday, October 27, 2011 9:37:30 AM It's like The Last of the Meheecans. BTW, I hope all the prisoners are US citizens or have valid work visas, or the farmers will have to join the chain gang! |

Thursday, October 27, 2011 9:29:13 AM To quote: "Illegal immigrants have fled Alabama." Sounds like it's working as planned. And the farmers interviewed just hate that they can't pay them less money under the table as they were with the illegals. I don't see the problem here. |

I was this in the news also. It's a made up problem for media hype. It's not as if all the crops in the state are rotting on the ground. And now that people with legal status know of the jobs, they will be filled. As a kid everyone had a summer job picking crops. And I like the chain-gang idea as well. Let'em earn their keep. |
