of course it's not the cell phones causing cancer, it's the food.

but here's what cell phones ARE doing:

@Matwix_2004: Jest or not (I'm not good with "funny" :( ) that's about right, competing theories get studied and where the data converges among them lies the best answer. wait. I bet you knew that too...am I on candid camera? It's in the bookshelf isn't it? Somehow, I always find a way to embarass myself...stupid, stupid, st--am I still typing?

sunday_scour - I am aware of this. My comment was made in jest, the fact that this will be a never-ending cycle of people saying it will, followed by people saying it wont.

Feck that 1000 charater sht. Scientific belief = convergence of data. Distinguishing good data from bad is of great importance to every single person.

@patchouly: There is a huge difference between what affects a child and what affects an adult; there is even a difference between child ages. A 10 year-old, a toddler, and an infant are very different from each other. Even if a study is 100% true and acurate, if it was not specifically for children.

@patchouly and @Matwix_2004: I agree.

@Matwix_2004: Science holds quality over quantity. A very good study/experiment is harder to dismiss than a larger more lax one. There are no absolutes in science; all ideas can be wrong if observation suggests otherwise. This is the strength/weakness of science things are believed because there is a convergincedata, not reverence or conveniency. Where the evidence converges is the current standard. This is hard to reconcile with psudoscience and politics which value absolutes, in theory and explanation, as their moral/ideological base. If a new study does show a cancer link, its quality and execution will determine its significance. Gravity is "just a theory". Evolution is "just a theory". When you add in bogus "studys" which get media attention as if they're good, it muddies the waters for those without the EXACT details and those without scientific literacy. This is why science in the classroom and popular science literacy is important; mis-information

patchouly - a few more weeks later and there will be another 'fifteen year study' done that says it does cause cancer. It's how it works.

Just a few weeks ago, I read an article stating that they were recommending children not use cell phones. They had determined that they did cause cancer, after all, and had issued immediate warnings...

It's part of the United States Strategic Initiative.

1.) Having children boosts the economy, old people don't, die young via any means, unnecessary wars, cell phones, ban on certain health giving drugs.

2.) Limit the oppositions ability to function. Hence deplete all fossil fuel reserves while advancing the US and allies to a point where they no longer depend upon fossil fuels. Thereby limiting economic and military growth leaving them dependent on the allied nations.

3.) Deny all existence of alien life so the US does not have to share advanced technology and can plausibly deny the fact it exists at all thereby allowing themselves clear military and economic advantages.

4.) Take the citizens hostage via putting them in debt to their country and make them reliant upon the government for their basic necessities.

5.) Use all media sources to disseminate propaganda convincing the public they control their own lives.

Conspiracy. They want you to use your cell phone a) to listen in and b) to track you and 3) so you will die early and receive fewer benefits.
